You *do* realize, no matter how much of a nogoodnik Putin is, that the push to get Ukraine into NATO and the EU was THE impetus for the Russian attack? And that a still living Boris Yeltsin, the most pro-Western Russian leader to date, would likely have done the same?

The recklessness of the Biden Administration here has been utterly appalling.

The fact is that Great Powers, and Russia is still one of those, despite the Soviet failure, do want spheres of influence in regions near them, that they consider "their backyards".

This is true for the USA "Monroe Doctrine".

This is true for France and other Euro nations with respect to Africa.

This is true for Red China with respect to North Korea, The Spratly Islands, Xinjiang, and Tibet, the latter two they actually do control.

This is especially true when a large percentage of the (on paper maps) Ukraine is ethnic Russians who frankly want to be part of Mother Russia, particularly in the southeast parts, and they gleefully broke away from the ultra-nationalist Northwestern regions of Ukraine, who were starting to treat ethnic Russians as lower than second class citizens?

Zelensky offered neutrality yet the war rages on. If it really was a bout NATO expansion, then it would be over by now. And you're obviously still living in 2014, since then the far right coalition lost virtually all the political power that they held. And those regions aren't very pro Russian given that insurrections against Kiev in those regions haven't materialized.

Considering that 99% of people that I know are from either one of those three countries, I would be concerned for that reason. At the same time, they are independent countries. In the past, the United states have interfered with those countries which only caused more problems, if the us continues, it'll probably only make things worse.
