How to live life without feeling bad for others?

So the way I worded the title sounds like live life and make others cry or something like that. But I mean do what I want and think if that person doesn't like it then it's not THIER thing and I can keep doing it. In the past, I have felt that my way is wrong because I don't know many people that do it. For example, I like to cook and bake, being a guy not too many men my age (19) do that and my dad is a very old school man. He thinks that guys aren't supposed to make food for friends or others outside my house family. So, I was like ok so no one is doing it and he said men don't do it so I should stop. But, then again, I don't think he or any other guy made the rulebook for men and other people or other genders. So, I can do whatever I want, following the law of course lol. Additionally, how do I stop putting others' thoughts or opinions above mine? Like for example, I could say "the wood is brown" and someone else could say "No, the wood is pink" I'd be like "oh right, my bad you're right". If that were real i'd not believe it but it's just an example.
