There were many times where I feared judgment by others and then, looked at the evidence and realized it was all in my head and nobody was actually judging me in real life, or less than 1.5% of the people that I imagined were judging me were actually judging me, maybe 0.02% of the enemies I imagined that I had happened to be real, but I believe when you judge yourself, you lower the risk of being judged from others.
Yeah, I definitely agree with you on guessing someone’s motives. We never know what someone is truly thinking and even if we speak the same language fluently, communication problems still occur. We still have body language and sub-conscience cues that help us communicate with people. Race and gender differences definitely play into this and the more dissimilar you are, the more difficult it is. Anything that disrupts those secondary communicators like phones, texting, drinking, drugs, or whatever can disinhibit and overwhelm our true judgement leaving our imagination to fill in the gaps. And the imaginative dopamine seeking part of our brains is notorious for amplifying and making things seem 10 times better or worse than it really is (anticipation is half the fun). This also can explain “letdowns” or anticlimactic.
So, yeah, judgement can often all be in our heads.
