Does doing drugs lower your IQ?

Well to all the people who say it does, yeah Im sure to a certain extent it can effect someones IQ, depending on the individual would also play a factor.
But I think its more of when they using it will effect there ability to make decisions, but I dont believe it effects someones IQ on a sober basis as much as people want to think. Everyone who has been addicted for lengthy periods of time would not be able to function the very slightest. I've been on something since about 12 years old, by what people claim, I shouldn't have the capabilities to write this opinion out or wipe my own ace for that matter. A lot of things they say are purpose driven. They said a lot of this back in the 40s and forward, now look at how many contradictions they have discovered by "new evidence". People will believe anything that supports what they want to especially if "evidence" comes from "source of authority ".
Its like how many people shy away from drugs and vitamins that aren't approved by the FDA, because they are deemed safe... Then why are they being sold? But then the FDA will approve a drug that has side effects that go as far as instant death... and people still take it though.
Watch the movie Reefer Madness and tell me how all that they claimed was true somehow is not the case now.
"Dope" is a propaganda born slang to push the actual definition as in association to people that consume "illegal" drugs. The problem is that The biggest dealers and manufacturers are doctors and pharmaceutical companies, and they are protected by the government.
Depends on the drug. Many highly intelligent people experiment with entheogens and alcohol and remain the smartest folk around. What I will say as a precaution is that in general, drugs are for those who can afford to lose a few iq points hahaha

Yes, but weed is not a drug even if the neocons and evangelical "Christians" say so (in fact the Bible encouraged the "green leaf"). It was criminalized because it was a keto product that made people skinner and appear younger.
Here is a self made look that it does.
In high school I was on drugs. I was speeding on English. They told me I graduated. Some years later I went to college. My reading level was 11th grade. Not 12th grade. I started drug use at 11th grade.
Yes drugs bring down IQ.
IQ as a measure is largely bogus. Hence why Americans love it so much.
There is no scientific basis to it.
From what I have seen with the people I have known IRL so I could observe them over an extended period of time, yes, it does make the dumber.
Maybe? It certainly makes one less intelligent temporarily, that's for sure.
they probably are not too bright to begin with but if they used drugs during their formative years it can affect the IQ in a negative way.
drugs and alcohol lower brain cells which could affect "IQ". I just don't think anyone cares about IQs.
you can tell the 4 people who voted no are doingg drugs and are stupid already so it makes no difference.
Yes, if you do it over an extended period of time.
Yes, and harder drugs can also cause severe mental illness.
I’m sure they do, to a certain extent.
Weed doesn’t but I don’t know about other drugs
Weed does, but it's only temporary. So, I guess one would better not do it all the time. ;) There are many things that can do that, many more than there are types of drugs. Unfortunately some are rather inevitable, even if you never do drugs. Like getting really old. At the same time some people hope there'll one day be a drug to stop just that. Or even for getting smarter. Go figure.
It's called "dope" for a reason.
