Will the rise of the so called Far Right be the end of the European Union as we know it?

Anti EU sentiment has been growing in Europe over the last decade.

In 2016 the UK voted to leave the EU.

In France Euro skeptic Marine La Pen gets closer and closer to winning the presidency in France.

Far Right Euro skeptic parties have won in Central European countries like Hungary, Poland, Austria, Czechia, and Serbia.

Far Right parties over the years have gained much support in countries like Spain, Denmark, Finland, France, Netherlands, and Belgium.

Recently Sweden elected a right wing coalition which biggest component is the Far Right Sweden democrats.
And in Italy a right wing coalition led by the most right wing leader in a major country won the election.

Some want to point at Putin as the boogie man and I don’t doubt he is happy to see the American led Atlanticist sphere weaken.

But I would blame the slow demographic replacement of European peoples as the main cause.

Nope. It's not as bad as America, where selection of a right wing nut like Trump has fucked the whole country over for at least a generation.

But don't forget that where America has still to get over apartheid, and Jim Crows far right ideologies, Europe has Hitler, Mussolini, Franco and others.

It's why ANY far right party has an uphill battle to overcome it's past and doesn't get very far when in office. Greece, Holland and Hungary has far right parties - and they failed spectacularly.

My experience of discussing brexit at the time was people had small personal grudges against the EU and were falsely led to believe if we left they would be allowed to do as they please. Very few saw the bigger picture. I suspect the same tactics are being used by the far right across Europe.

An example is the use of pesticides once banned by the eu on environmental and health grounds are now likely to be restored under the freedom act. People are saying "but I didn't vote for that, I just wanted a blue passport..."

When it comes to politics Europeans are fickle, they'll get behind a minor extremists party for a bit but soon drop them. I think the EU will survive but it'll have to modernise. The reality is in a global market it's simpler for other countries like America to deal with one set of EU regs and trade deals than a dozen separate conflicting ones.

That's a classic example of right wing misdirection. The slogan went "let's fund the NHS instead" and people assumed the money would be directed that way. But the day after the referendum they said they only meant it could not it would. Our PiS that is considered in right wing in EU and they will lose election next year. Once people notice right wing parties are just controlled opposition like every other left or center party, they turn their back to them.

I just looked up opinion polls for the next polish election and it says the United right is ahead of Civic Platform.

And a lot can change before next opinion.

Serbia isn't even in the EU, they're more concerned about getting what was left of Yugoslavia after the 90s to care about joining a union of countries that bombed them to shit during the 90s.

If I'm not mistaken Meloni actually wants to conserve status quo, most other 'right' wing politicians do too.

As much as I'd love to see that shithole go belly up, the EU is probably gonna keep on trucking till the end of time. Left wingers are delusional cretins and wanna expand the damn thing and right wingers are too limp wristed to leave, even if they wanted to, which is a big if in the first place.

What makes these parties " far right"? Are they maybe not just conservative or centrist?
Seems the biggest problem is liberal policies of parties and the EU that is maybe not in the best intrests of EU citizens. For all the "liberalism" of European parties and the EU living standards having dropping this last 20 years but at the same time European wealth increases. A basic inequality of wealth distribution and all the only solution liberal parties in EU can come up with is to spend more taxpayer's money on more social programmes for which they are taxed eve more for and to bring in more immigrants which lowers wages.

I think so. Meloni says she wants to keep ties with NATO and the EU, but it won't last long. The rest of her party members all support Putin, but if she doesn't cave to them, the EU will sanction her for banning gay adoption and kicking all the Blacks and Muslims out of the country. So one way or the other, Italy's leaving the EU.

If the EU breaks up, it will be due to the fact that the EU apparatus is (by design) not democratic and the EU politicians are corrupt, incompetent and have bad policies. There is no need for the EU- the bloc should just be a free trade zone with Freedom of Movement and can even keep the euro (for those members who are in it).
