Proably. I don't like big govt and this is more of it. I also dont' like how corrupt it becomes.
However, I think we need things like this so people can care for family members at home.
We already have some of this, how much I don't know. I took care of my mom when I was working for myself and had plenty of $ in the bank so I wasn't under stress. But at a different time in life, it would be tough.
This problem lands hard on a lot of middle aged women who end up caring for kids, the family, and their parents... seen it more than once. And they get burned up.
Who's going to pay for it? The person needing the leave is the one responsible. If you charge their employer, they will pay lower wages and benefits to that person and to other employees, and raise prices. The money has to come from somewhere, it's not magic.
If you raise prices, the employer will be less competitive, or go out of business if you do it too much. If you charge taxpayers, then suddenly I'm using my hard-earned money to pay for someone over in Kansas to take time off to care for someone in their life. If you try to charge the "mega-rich," they're the ones who control the politicians, so it will never happen, and anyway, what makes it their responsibility? Nothing.
Government is going to pay for it like they do in other develop countries.
Nah but I do think new moms deserve longer then 6 weeks off of work after a baby. Most are still bleeding and forced to go back to work like that. Don't think it should be paid for tho or anything but just have the option for them to stay out a little longer.
No. The US government is already too big, into too many things that it shouldn’t be, and is literally the WORST business model to ever exist. There’s a reason they’re arming treasury agents with the same weapons they want to take away from law abiding citizens, and it’s not because those assholes are going to rescue Ukraine!

So many people worried their money might go towards helping people they don’t even know. Oh! The horror. Americans, especially the ones who call themselves patriots, will not tolerate helping other Americans. “But, but, but it’s MY MONEY” should be the national motto.
In all honesty, I had no idea the United States does not have such support mechanisms. These feel like basic human rights, over here.
Cooperations who fund politicians campaigns and careers don't want it so the politicians obey. 😏
Nope. The role of the government is to govern. It's in the name.
Although a program like this is not as bad some other give-away programs they have, it's still not their mandate to do such things.
Personally I'd be happy if the entire federal government were eliminated. We should go back to the way it was when the country was formed.
Eliminate a lot of destructive, corrupt, worthless other programs first, and I may consider it. Such programs are not the purpose of government. Government exists to punish evil. Veer too far from that, and it becomes evil.
No. We need more social programs. Social programs aren't useless and government is not only to punish evil doers but to look out for the their people as well.
You know what I hate about republicans
They always vote AGAINST their own interests. They say they want the same things as "democrats" do, but then they vote for everything that isn't.
I'll never understand tha
I think I would but it would have to be set up so that it would be fair and that the system could not be abused. What will really happen is that it will be a giveaway program for democrats that the taxpayers will be on the hook for.
Yes. It creates happier families, which means more productive workers. This ain't the days of strikebreakers or 14 hour days. there's a psychological strategy to get the best work from employers.
Not a bit. The government always does charity in the most wasteful, inefficient way possible. I'd rather not be on the losing end of that. Again.
That's not something government should do, businesses should do that for their employees, and some already do.
They already do have programs like that. IHSS is one of them.
No. That should be up to the business / organization.
Maybe. It depends on the terms of the program really.
I am against government programs I'm general. If they end up being failures, the state doesn't give a shit. They will keep it going until it runs out of people's money.
I'm going to say I'm for the Federal family leave plan. But who's going to pay. Our taxes?
Not yours per se but rather the 2 trillion in tax breaks the mega rich and corporations get will be redirected to the federal government for social programs.
80% of people want something at the expense of others? Will wonders never cease?
yes but only if they aren't below the poverty line. i don't want to encourage the poor to have more kids
Nope too many people will take advantage of a program like that
yes i would support it.
Yes of course and caregivers
Potentially. I’d need more details.
That already exists
My job already has that
Nope. We’re 30 trillion in debt.
Isn't there already? FMLA?
Absolutely
It unpaid leave
