Personally I don’t think anybody you should be apologizing for somebody else’s actions. I’m not going to apologize for you I’m not gonna apologize for your ancestors I’m not going to apologize if I’m a CEO for one of my workers actions that’s their actions they need to apologize they need to feel guilty for their actions. If a Starbucks worker or McDonald’s worker or a Microsoft worker or an Apple worker does something wrong that affects the entire company is up to that individual to apologize it is not up for the CEO to apologize personally I think it should be illegal for CEOs to apologize on behalf of a low level worker you should not have hired that low level worker in the first place so you should not be apologizing for that low level worker if you want to force that low level worker to come out and make a public apology on national television go ahead and do that the end of a show a persons probably not gonna do that so they’ll quit but it’s not up for Jeff Bezos to apologize for somebody being a racist piece of shit on Amazon just like it is not up for somebody to apologize for their ancestry and what their ancestors did 50 years ago 25 years ago or even if that’s their own parent it is up to the person who is at fault to apologize and not the company or somebody else who is a third-party to apologize I think this is wrong I think it is stupid and I honestly I think the apology means nothing

Responsibility rolls up hill. If an employee does something bad that can damage the companies reputation. It's better to apologise, show you've dealt with it and move on. If you don't then that can imply you agree with their actions.
I don't agree with individuals apologising for historical events, especially ones from a different era. They don't have the authority to apologise on my behalf or anyone else's. But I think if something was sanctioned by the authorities at the time an apology can be a strong diplomatic tool.
