Does money buy happiness (read on)?

They say money does make you happy,

and for some time, I wrestled with that claim and those who were for it and those against it.

A time came where I humored it. I respected and understood those who felt it was true, even if I didn’t feel that same way.

Then I saw the logic and had to agree. I was compelled, with the exception of loopholes and the things being better than money, in the road to obtain “wealth”/ “prosperity.”

But now I sit here, and wonder:

for all who do believe money buys happiness, and such-

How come people who are making money every day (whether a lot or a little, is no matter), still aren’t happy?

Why do they get triggered and angry easily, when they have money? 🤷‍♀️

How come the people with a lot of money don’t seem happy?

They (some of them) barely do anything?

How come the rich aren’t happy and content, and driven by happiness/ moved to help others to be happy as well?

Don’t happy people wish for others to be happy?

Don’t happy people smile and laugh a lot? Isn’t it almost too difficult to help?

how come ric- happy people don’t smile? and get rude or nasty?

Some ancient warriors felt entitled and never became rude

Some activist leaders, know their rights and entitlements, but they too, don’t get nasty/ rude?

Why then, do these “happy” people go on building more things upon things,

being greedy for more money,

become irritable with others,

and still cheat on others?

Why?

WHY ALL OF THIS-

if money means and buys.. happiness?

That's because there's an emptiness in the heart that money can't fill and that emptiness is only filled with love, so when people with money reach that point where the love for money is all they have left, the money doesn't love them back it makes them unhappy and they live a life full of money but unhappy, a human wasn't created to be alone, money can add to happiness but it won't make someone happy, I don't have much money but I have the love of Jesus christ in my heart and with problems and struggles and obstacles I still manage to be happy, God protects me and my family and that's what's most important to me, I know God will give me money when he knows it's best for me, money is an object and unfortunately for people that's all it will be, it can only get you more objects but it can't buy love and peace.

In the movie “catch that kid” the mom needs a loan for her husband who had some kind of injury and needed surgery. Anyways the lines between her and her boss struck a chord in me that I never forgot:

Don't you have a heart?

This is not an emotional issue, Mrs. Phillips.

A bank has no heart.

Only paper in a vault.

Indeed, love comes from the heart, the world has too much money but very little love and as time goes by it gets worse, and if God didn't have a plan that is already written, this lack of love for humans and love for money is what would lead humanity to extinction.

Well not to argue or anything, but I think god knows the destructive nature of humans, especially apart from him and his moral ways, so he lets them use their own free will to bring the judgement/ consequence.

If free will isn’t used for otherwise, people would be choosing their own demise. From pollution alone, so much had come about.

Reversible, until the point of no return.

There's no arguing, no offense taken here, God knows everything, God knows how many hairs are on your head right now so I don't doubt God knows how destructive humans are and will be but God didn't make mankind this way, it all falls back to Adam and eve and Satan tempting them to eat from the forbidden tree, that created sin and humanity has thrived in it since then, which leads to all these choices of negativity, greed (one of the 7 deadly sins) is probably the most used in my opinion, the love of money, we are suppose to use money as a tool to get things that will bring us happiness, not try and accumulate as much as we can and let it sit in a bank account, I do see your point tho but what I meant by my previous comment is that if God didn't promise to destroy the world during his wrath killing 1/3 of the population then humanity would have created their own extinction, if it's from pollution or destruction of our own environment in all the ways they are doing it or simply the lack of love where people will put money over people, which is already happening, these food companies add chemicals and excessive amounts of sodium and sugar to our foods just to sicken people so people can buy and pay and use their money to help their own health, the medical field is what makes the most money, come on you don't think they already found the cure to cancer, of course they did, they just silence people that want to make the world a better place, some dude made a car that runs on water and they poisoned him and stole his invention, pretty messed up stuff smh

to keep it simple...

money can buy SOME happiness, yes... but money will not make you wiser, smarter nor caring enough to actually know how to get to "buy such happiness"

which is why so many people with money are not happy... they're just not interested on investing it on happiness, they just want even more money, this is greed

and this is why I always give the same answer to the many questions that are all the same "if you had a shitton of money what would you do" and right away I answer one of the things that would make me EXPLODE with joy and happiness, and that is to rescue all of the stray cats and dogs from the streets I could afford to save and I mean it

I would very probably die of happiness if I had that Elon Musk money and I could actually do that

I don’t think it buys happiness per se, but it provides stability and people mistake that for happiness because believe it or not, people can be poor and happy, rich and miserable or even just, financially stable and still not be happy… it’s about context and much much deeper issue than just having money.

Money can only buy things and happiness is not a thing

also there r many different definitions out there when it comes to the term happiness. A lot people think going to parties and having this kind of fun with people or things they can buy is happiness. That’s wrong it’s pleasure and a distraction

people think having no worries is happiness. That’s also wrong

happiness is basically being content with yourself and the world. Many rich people aren’t content with themselves and no matter how rich they r they cannot completely change the world to their own liking even if they try. U need to accept those things and the fundamental truth about ur existence before u can become truly happy. And in this process money can help but it can also be a distraction and make u live an illusion

The things that cause happiness are good health, love, certainty, access to things that bring you joy, and access to things that fulfill your biological needs.

Money is the typical way people in civilized countries access most of the things under those 5 umbrellas, however sometimes there is a problem money can't fix, a worry money can't calm, or a thing you want that money can't buy.

If you have lots of money, the odds are much higher that the number of problems you face will be lower, and the amount of things you want that you actually end up getting, will be higher.

So money can buy happiness, but only if the things in your life that money can't buy are fulfilled. Because people are not able to settle. They think they can, because they try to live up to a standard set by their culture, but in reality, everyone wants that perfect life with everything they want in it.

I think happiness does look different for everybody, and if they don’t have a certain level of awareness-

They’ll reject and miss out on opportunities, they’ll be given the right tools to make dreams happen and NOT act upon it, and they’ll have so much money and still not spend it and donate it to the places and things that would matter most to them, or even the things that would fuel/ jump-start their goals 🤷‍♀️.

I watched an interview with Colin Farrell shortly after he became famous and I guess his grandpa was dying of cancer. And he was asked about his success and he said it's bittersweet because he just got paid a million to do some movie. He said all that money and I can't buy my grandpa an extra day. So a better man it does not make me he said.

In a way it can but you dont need to be rich. I think at around 70 to 80k combined income for people is where the threshhold for the minimum happiness starts and more than that doesn't increase happiness that much. I forgot where I read this. As long as you have enough money to pay your bills and have some left over for doing fun things then you're fine.
