Why are some people so tight with money?

I know a guy I’ll call Ryan and our friend group went out for Greek food. It turned out later on that the Greek restaurant owed me $1 and we were only given $2 change and Ryan decided it was all his, as he was owed $2 and I was owed $1. I didn’t want to make an issue of $1 that I was going to give the Greek restaurant as a tip anyway. But I was disgusted that he argued about why all the change was his. It was $2 for Christ’s sake.

Its a cultural trait. I deal with male men from India. When I do a State Emissions Inspections the certicate doesn't get issued until I have a confirmed pass. When it does there is an additional cost of $8.25. Sometimes I get the ones who think its in the cost of the inspection, after dealing with that several times. Because they want to be difficult, I dont issue it, and let Karma do its work in the long lines at the DMV.

One can't trust people with this kind of judgment and behavior as it relates to the role and importance of Money. This crowd would have been in my rear view mirror long ago. I do not know anyone who would either trust or invite them.
