Do you think I did the right thing? Wasn't the Assistant GM wrong?

so my roommate has only a 2nd grade reading level, but he works at a certain fast food chain. He needed to call in sick for today, which he did yesterday. This morning, the assistant GM called him telling him if he didn't come in he was going to be terminated. I happened to be listening to the phone call, because I know he needs help managing his life, and I heard her say that. So I grabbed the phone and told her that was a violation of the OSHA codes and other laws. Then she told me she thought I didn't know the law and hung up.

So a few minutes later, the real GM calls my roommate and wants to speak with me, and I was like, "I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble here, but what I heard her say was illegal."

That's especially true with Food Safety issues. I have multiple years in food-related quality assurance, and if someone went to work with diarrhea and somehow contaminated the kitchen, every customer who went to their window would sue the restaurant as soon as they found out about it.

Long story short, my roommate got the day off, but must come in tomorrow and the next day instead.
