he is selling his 24,000+ square-foot mansion in LA. That’s not even his biggest house. What on earth would anyone use 50,000 ft.² of living space for? Even if I were a billionaire I would never want anything approaching that size. That’s insane.

I mean.. Billionaires are weird people to begin with. Most of the things they do or believe in I very much disapprove of even on a practical level. I mean honestly, have you seen their yachts? If I had the money to get whatever boat I wanted custom made into whatever form I wanted then I sure as hell would not have such an uninspired carbon copy of wasted wealth. Honestly, have some creative freedom. Kick back your feet and do something crazy for once like build a steam punk inspired boat or whatever.

I mean look at it! Its not even that particularly fancy but even this example has some CHARACTER to it and you could do a lot more with a more fantastical design than this random image I found. And what are we comparing it to?

This absolute PLAGUE of identical yachts where the only way you can find yours is if it is somehow bigger than the rest and even then it might be a struggle. I mean.. and this point I am just disappointed. You have all the money in the world to make things that are not realistic for anyone else or that might even appear to defy reality itself, yet to lack even the semblance of creativity and continue to make the worst houses and yachts imaginable.

At least the car situation is not as terrible, but even then. If you are a billionaire you dont have to just pick one of either comfort or style and we could have had crazy one-of-a-kind masterpieces driving around.

Make it ornate. Make it unique. Make it so the only reason it is even practical is if when you pull in to park it there is a team of specialists waiting to spit shine ever inch and tune up the car so its ready to strut its stuff the next time you pull out.

But no. These unimaginative hacks does the same old thing over and over and the only thing that changes with the balance in your account is how BIG everything is.

You know. For a brief moment in time things used to be different. For example, there was a time in Italy where the super wealthy threw nations worth of wealth onto every two-bit artist, architect and sculptor to create whatever national treasure they felt like that morning. They were horrible people for sure, just like today, but if nothing else we will remember them because they had some style points.

He bought that house for about 75 million dollars a couple of years ago. He will sell for around 90 millions dollars. That is over 10 million in profit after tax. Not bad for a couple of years of "hold and flip".

No you dont. I have seen the houses millionaires and billionaires buy. They are fucking atrocious and the only thing that matters for these people is how much money the granite floor cost to make or what exotic and expensive material that fireplace is made out of or how much gold you can stuff in the ceiling.

Its for bragging rights or some idiotic desire to seek accomplishment that they should probably seek therapy for.

And before you re-iterate your "he made money from it", let me just point out that it is an investment bubble. The only reason the price went up is because the next sorry excuse for a wealthy person thinks HE can make millions from holding onto it as well.. and the next.. and the next.. and round and round it goes in a giant circlejerk until it all comes crashing down again.

At no point was there actually an increase in value there. It was just a building expectation of wealth that people without financial sense has.
