I've been writing a book series this past year where characters time travel, and just finished book 3, and in the series, and part of writing is doing research, and I had a character that was from that time.
From what I found in my research, the late 50s were when females were starting to break free from old traditions and some of them even went for careers. Not all of them though. There were still some women that still remained housewives, so it was a mixed bag. Some husbands didn't want the wives to work, so some still remained housewives, staying home and taking care of the children.
It didn't really take off until the 60s though. Hope this answered the question clearly!

No, just the opposite in fact. Most women did not support feminism then because they preferred what they had.
Back then a single income household was the norm, and well within the reach of most couples. Since then feminism has pushed most women into the workforce, and now the economy has fully adjusted to the to income household model. The vast majority of mothers could not be home with their children even if they wanted to, because it's not financially feasible.
And most mother WOULD stay home with heir children if they could.

Thanks feminism, well done.
No. The simplest answer I can give you is that many women chose to be traditional and others didn’t.
Probably. If your rights were minimal, you would support that which would improve your lot in life.

This question is pointless. We are not living in the 1950s and how many 90 year olds are here to answer?
According to my grandmother, most women in the 50s did not support feminism.
