Did the "Feminism" and "Womens' Liberation" movement of the 1970s help or hurt women, families and society?

After the "Feminism" and "Women's Liberation" movements of the 1970s took hold expectations of women changed from being the homemakers to being the homemakers AND to going out and getting jobs. Now they are expected to do BOTH.

Are they really better off now?

And are families AND SOCIETY really better off? Before that movement, there was always a parent at home with the kids. There was a better sense of cohesion and family life was more central to the culture. And the traditional family unit is the building block of any society.

Life was never idyllic. It has been difficult since the dawn of mankind (or am I supposed to say "peoplekind" 🙄). But having lived in both eras I have to say that it seems to me that today's society has a very distinct loss of purpose, civility and direction compared to that of my youth. And the demarcation point between the two societies was the arrival of these movements in the 1970s.

Did the "Feminism" and "Womens' Liberation" movement of the 1970s help or hurt women, families and society?
