Is male privilege real?

Are men taken more seriously in the workplace and when they speak or is it just all in my head?

As someone who grew up female, I would be told to cross my legs when I would sit. Put my legs together to not take up too much space (even if I felt uncomfortable having my legs pushed up against each other due to the constricted blood flow). I was forced to go for eyebrow threading/waxing starting from the early age of just 14.. I just wanted to be a kid and chill. Guys in school would harass me and block me in the hallway. The girls would pick on me for not having my hair perfect or not having my eyebrows done.

Now, in the workplace, I feel men are just overall treated better. They are not made to take meeting notes, set up meetings, set up office parties, facilitate things.. They are given meaningful work that is interesting. Now, I know a job is a job and it isn't supposed to be fun. It's work and everyone needs to work hard. I just feel that women are given more of the 'office household work'.

Maybe in some countries... It all depends on your laws. In the USA technically everyone is suppose to be equal under the law, but clearly women are treated with special privileges and an absence of responsibility like they are a psudochild of sorts. Women tend to be treated with legal favoritism landing shorter prison sentences for the same crimes. Women don’t have to register for selective service /military draft which means they can’t be sent to die for their country like men. Women are often given financial aid more often with social safety nets like college scholarships, homelessness assistance, welfare, etc. Women are often offered jobs they are not qualified for to meet diversity quotas. Women are favored when it comes to legal custody over children. Women are given favoritism when it comes to term of divorce, child support, and alimony payments. Women have complete control over abortion decisions which impact the lives of both parents’ child and ultimately both parents’ emotional suffering. Women are provide favoritism for exiting sinking ships, being given seats on public transit, etc. So in America, it is far more difficult to be a man. This is why men learn to work harder and longer, and to complain less and make no excuses. You have to be tough when the chips are stacked against you. As a result men become emotional stronger persons that have instilled in us a superior work ethic. We are driven to become more educated and to be more responsible. As a result of our training, we are able to do more, and thus gain more respect and often become superior earners. Weak people that get a free ride are always complaining that they are less successful because they have had an easy life and have never had to try hard.

Some people are taken more seriously than others because they command respect, and that goes for both sexes. There are males and females at work who people don't take as seriously as others because they don't earn the respect of others.

But the guys in that category don't use their gender as an excuse for why they are not as respected. They have to face the real reasons why they are not respected.

Many of the women do blame it on their gender though, because it's an easy scapegoat. They tend to look at the guys who people respect and make the leap that they are respected BECAUSE they are guys, and that all guys have an advantage. It doesn't work that way.

You can choose to delude yourself and never understand why you are not respected, or you can choose to be honest with yourself and try to earn more respect from others, just like guys have to.

Yeah. As dark blond girl you have to prove your professionalism and competency several times until others start to take you seriously. Boys which started with me, got respect granted for free from the beginning but few of them wasted it and degraded themselves to jokes.
However in the Uni it was another way around, because the prof. there was a man hating old hag. I dared to oppose her at first week and she took my handwritten sheets for correction until end of first semester. But she blew other girls sugar in their butts even though some of them had attention span of an ameba.

There is a male bias at workplace because some girls are cunning and avoid fair competition and create some stereotypes among supervisors. However it's no a big problem if you're good in your profession. Because merit counts and complaining changes anything.
I guess it's not different with boys when they are victim of opposite bias at other places.

It's becoming less so. But YES. I would never want to be a woman because they are 70% what a man is. But moreover they on the avg. Treated and judged differently based on perceived gender roles. If a man is assertive he's showing a take charge attitude and leadership skills. If a woman does it she's just being a b****. What's worse it's a dbl edged swird that she cannot win on. Because if she shrinks back or shows emotions it's because she to soft to handle the pressure.

I didn't vote for Hillary (and that's a whole northern conversation entirely😆). But you don't get much more qualified than HER. I think a clearer sign of gender bias was never seen. NO F***ing way Trump should have beat her.

Equal opportunity in the workplace and equal respect on the street have improved dramatically in the70 years since the feminist movement began. But like other movements, the feminist movement has become corrupt just like the Civil Rights and climate change movements.

It's so real that once women decided to get a career and have a family at the same time just like men have always done they are still miserable.

Gloria Steinem even said in an interview that women are more opressed than ever thanks to this lifestyle as if men haven't been willingly doing this since the dawn of humanity and this was just a curse we placed on them. This is what they wanted and now they have buyers remorse.
