Doctors shouldn't be able to refuse to treat ANYONE. And luckily I don't think most progressive doctors would, even if allowed to, bc most progressive people tend to have yknow empathy. But yeah they can now discriminate based on "lifestyle choices" or shit like that. And it's already happened where a trans person died bc a transphobic EMT refused to treat them. It's bad. And it needs to fucking stop.

No, we don't want doctors to refuse treatment for certain groups of people even if they are assholes. It happens now but should not be encouraged. Some doctors will give lack luster treatment to addicts or people that attempted suicide because they view those people as less worthy of their time. Its a dangerous game because that is like saying some lives are worse less than others.

i am almost certain a doctor can refuse treatment to anybody. evidence if anybody entered any emergency room and does not have insurance they do not need to treat any body. similarly any doctor can say, "go somewhere else because i am "busy" with the patient after you or personal stuff, to anybody whether they wear a maga hat or a dnc t shirt or a rainbow gay t shirt all equal before the law.

Bessie Smith's death from a car accident was said to be likely preventable but the issue is that she was turned away from hospital after hospital because she wasn't white. Doctors can choose who they accept as patients in their practice. But if they are working at a hospital, they do not have that ability. Emergency care people, such as those with ambulances, must treat all people that call upon their service.
