What am I? A liberal or conservative? In today's world seems you can be only full blown liberal or full blown conservative. What would you label me?

I considered myself a liberal because I reject BS traditions past down by wicked heathens telling or trying to box people into a way of living and I believe in changing what needs to be changed for the better while conservative means keeps things as they are without ever changing.

Now, it seems if you don't agree that one can change their biology and gender then you are conservative.

If you believe in protecting your country's border then you must be conservative as well.

I took a test a few years back, and I landed on the left side in the middle.

What do you consider me base on my beliefs because I'm kinda confused?

I don't believe in the binary choices of left, right, liberal or conservative. I don't even believe in "centrism" which is a place somewhere along the continuum between those two ideologies.

My liberal values haven't changed much since I was a teen when liberalism meant support for things like peace, love, tolerance, open mindedness, liberty, justice, fairness, distrust of authority, and anti war. I love the values espoused in the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights.
I don't recognize what passes for "liberal" these days. It seems to be the opposite of what I believe.
And people who think the Democratic party is liberal or progressive are delusional.

Neither am I conservative or Republican.

I develop opinions on individual issues based on research, information, logic, and my own values, without consideration for political partisanship or popular consensus.

I don't fit into a nice, neat box. You can't assume that if someone agrees with liberals on some things, they must agree with them on everything, or if you agree with conservatives on some things, you must agree with them on everything.

In the end, labels are stereotypes and lead to assumptions and divisiveness. I don't play that game.

I have friends who self-identify as liberal or progressive, and as conservative or (right) libertarian. Interestingly, I have more in common with my conservative friends these days because modern liberals will brand you as conservative if you disagree with them on even one issue. Conservatives seem to be more open minded and willing to agree to disagree.
But the people I love the most are those informed individuals who have stepped out of matrix and rebel against the predatory globalist agenda that both political parties support.

Mostly nationalist and socialist tbh. But with some views that balance it out. I suppose conservative + (economic-) left. And in today's world it is perfectly fine to not fit one group or another... as long as your country is not split between 2 main political parties. I'm a Dutch centrist and I still got a few parties to choose from. Honestly, I hear less slander about being centrist than being progressive, conservative, left or right here. But I do need to admit that centrist here in the Netherlands still means somewhat progressive leftist in American terms. If I were to guess, you would vote for PVV if you were Dutch. A (in Dutch terms) conservative, economic-right leaning, populist party with a special focus on nationalism (anti-immigration) and a weaker government (dubbed 'freedom'). It's usually what people view as the opposition to the government that is currently in power. It was almost as if Trump used it for inspiration.

To me you sound more like a conservative based on your ethical beliefs, just with a little bit higher tolerance for socialist/liberal policies than many. I'd call you a moderate conservative (though really you're pretty solidly socially conservative) and assume you tend to vote republican/right-wing. You can probably also check by looking at what news sources you prefer and checking the political biases of those sources.

CNN = moderately left-leaning, Fox = strongly right, NBC = moderately left-leaning, Young Turks = strongly left (I'm basing off the website "All Sides" and "Ads Fontes Media", mostly because they pop up first in google lol). I will say that Young Turks specifically had a much lower reliability score than the others (probably a function of the strong bias), so I'd be careful with that one. Using highly bias media sources may just serve to serve to de-legitimize similar arguments from more reliable sources.

Best guess is that you actual value system is strongly conservative, but because you expose yourself to a wider variety of media sources than the average conservative, you tend to be more open to/aware of liberal arguments/values that you don't feel strongly oppose your social values. At the end of the day it's safe to deem you right-wing/conservative by the modern definition unless you'd like to argue differently.

And I take all media with a grain salt. I like the Young Turks even though they sometimes say the most outrageous BS but I like the coverage they do give on news.

I mean I'd suggest that a willingness to interact with/shift opinions makes you a moderate, while your actual values (christianity, nationalism, gun access, capitalism, limits on LGBTQ+ activities/exposure, and belief in strong military) are solidly conservative in nature. You do have some seemingly opposing view which make for an interesting mix (strong welfare and taxing the rich, but also capitalism, hierarchy, and personal freedoms), but that's just me. How you define your political position doesn't really affect me or what stances you hold. I'm honestly just a little happy to see someone I view as socially conservative making an active attempt to listen to liberal arguments and values.

Correction: In today‘s United States. Every European country has easily five or six established parties to choose from. Coalition governments are the norm and that norm sets a different tone than the shrill two-party extremism in the U. S.

"Tone" means little real opposition and big problems are left unaddressed or swept under the rug, as the current weak coalition in Germany shows, and the previous ones under Merkel also demonstrated. Having multiple political parties has done nothing to solve the governance problem- what have the FDP or Linke done to bring political pluralism? What was the difference between the CDU and the SPD during the Merkel years? Or, for that matter, the difference between Merkel and the Greens?

@Avicenna it might not be much more effective than the American system, but at least we are not nations split in 2. It's a step up for sure. I personally think the emphasis on consistency in politics is what makes it as bad as it is. A politician agreeing that someone else's solution for a problem is better than their own is immediately flagged as a traitor by the people who voted for them and untrustworthy by the rest of the population and will likely not gain many votes afterwards. There is too much focus on 'It has to go my way' and too little focus on 'I do this for the people'. Most democratic/republic systems won't do much better unless that problem is addressed.
