Why do dog owners/people in general get so offended if you dislike dogs?

Anonymous

Okay so I don't dislike dogs per se but I was almost mauled to death by my dad's rottweiler when I was a child. Still have the scars to this day.

So whenever I see a dog on the streets, I heed carefully or move out of the way. You could call it a trauma response. The owners are usually very accommodating but you can tell when they look at you with that "really?" sort of look.

And then when I go on social media, I see everyone saying they don't trust people who dislike dogs. Sometimes, dog abuse gets a bigger reaction than child abuse. I get the impression that people will go above and beyond for their dogs and they have a "Dog can do no wrong" sort of attitude. So naturally, when they see people who don't love dogs as much as they do, they can't warm up to them. It's like they think you're weird.
