And no amount if reasoning can get the point across to this person that you are not saying what they think you are saying.
For example I have taken the feminist side on some anti feminist debates.
But because my name is in blue I will be attacked more often than not by a woman who thinks I'm saying something bad or offensive or anti woman anti feminism.
Or I might have a unique idea. But it doesn't matter. The idea I have is incomprehensible to other people, because they're always so ready to fight and be angry, that grammar and sentence structure matters not. All that matters is that someone said some key words and someone else got triggered.
It's like people no longer have reading comprehension skills. Everything is about reading between the lines and creating in your head some crazy argument.
And I see men and women doing it constantly. Not even just my comments but other people's comments are being attacked by reply after reply of people misunderstanding that comment.
Why is everyone so damn angry?

I hear what you're saying and agree. Some people just have small minded views and choose to argue. You're right, they deliberately attempt to misconstrue your words just because they disagree.
It doesn't happen to me all that often, but it definitely does happen. Some people are triggered by topics like politics and sexuality in particular. And they get really abusive.
Almost daily!!
It also comes with people that have no sense of humour and THINK I was insulting them when I was actually agreeing in a sort of back-handed way.
It happens a lot on YT, too.
YouTube is a cesspit.
YouTube comments anyways. I love YouTube.
It also happens in my personal life quite a lot.
When I was a kid, I was doown the hill from hhere with three of my cousins. There's a shallow creek down there and I was in the creek almost under a bridge over the creek. My cousins decided to go across the bridge. It's about 50 feet long. Standing on the other end of the bridge, one of them picked up a rock about the size of a baseball and threw it over the far end of the bridge into the creek. They had no way of seeing me in the creek and I SERIOUSLY doubt it was done intent on hitting me but, it DID hit me in the head! I don't recall BLAMING anyone, accusing them of doing it intentionally. All my life, as far as I'm concerned, it was just an unintentional accident! I've ALWAYS viewed it that way! In 1999, Dec. 23rd, my grandmother (whose house this is), died and I decided to write out a list of my many memories (not all, of course, jjust a couple dozen) of being here at her house all those decades. On the list, I MENTIONED the rock incident, again, NEVER BLAMING ANYONE!! It was
It was JUST A MEMORY of my being here over the decades! I made copies of it and handed them out at the funeral. At least one of those three cousins read that part and got pissed at me claiming that I BLAMED him/them for an ACCIDENT where I NEVER BLAMED ANYONE!!
1984, I met a girl working at the mall that I kinda liked. We got on well together and, one day, I wrote her a long letter, not exactly a love letter but not exactly not a love letter. I was coming down off of a broken heart a month or so before and she kinda looked like the girl that broke it. In the letter, I made a joke about how I've even been proposed to once! It was in the summer of 1982 and I said that I would've said yes to the girl that asked me to marry her EXCEPPT that she was only 3 years old, at the time! (I was also dating her mother, at the time!) This crazy fat cow, somehow, found out where I lived, came to my house one night with her brand new (as of a couple days, or even hours ago) boyfriend and they both threatened to beat the fuck out of me because, according to her, I said I WANTED to marry a 3 year old!!! All I meant was that, if she was of legal age and I wasn't seeing anyone else, I would've accepted her proposal! Any NORMAL person would've read what I wrote and thought it was a cute little story and would've got a nice chuckle from it.
Last night, someone here asked what's the legal age for marriage. I joked about how, in the hills, if you're not married by the time your 16, you're an old maid. Two teen girls who never stepped outside of their own little bubbles took offense to this and acted like it was MY PERSONAL opinion!!
In high school, there was this kid I was friends with, Larry Weiss. But, every time I made ANY kind of a joke or comment about him, even if I said something complimentary to him, he'd get very pissed about it!
Well your story just paints it very clear. There's a lot of really stupid people out there lmao.
The thing is, I've even taken ideas to smart people spaces at least on the internet. And they misunderstand equally as quickly and react with the same speed and anger.
I have noticed in recent times that people on reddit are putting disclaimers before the body of their posts. Because they have to explain in great detail why they are not a bigot before they say something or else they'll just get attacked.
So I guess it's pretty much commonplace now.
Yeah, everybody's thin-skinned these days and can't take or understand a joke without it being explained to them in great detail!! And, even then!!
I heard Judge Joe Brown talk about that the other day! He was talking about a game they used to play in New York called, 'The Dozens". George Carlin even mentioned it on one of his early solo albums. You'd get together with your friends and make dirty jokes about how you fucked their mothers. Everyone in the group knew it was just a game and nothing bad was meant by any of it! But, you try to do that today and somebody will take a 2 X 4 and try to make you short!!
Hasn’t happened to me yet!
