Do you think people today are more introverted than extroverted?

Do you think more people of today are actually more introverted than they were 20 or 30 years ago? I feel like many people today are more comfortable being alone or not being very social even if they do have to show that at times. Maybe the advancement of technology also contributes to this?

But it seems like the world is split with any of the above somewhere close to a centerline depending on what it might be
It seems like with each generation there's a change or a shift of the balance of who we are becoming sometimes not all good.
Introverts her a lot more internal people
I believe even some older extroverts are becoming introverted
I think a lot of people are seeing our world change right in front of us to more of a crazier evil side so people are staying in more because they feel that shift.
But no matter what people are doing one day we are all going to be forced to become extroverts.
Because of all the freedoms we are about to lose.
I believe that it will be the introverts. That start taking the lead of a new world.
A new direction that scientists are finally acknowledging what introverts is known for a long time
I believe our world is about to change directions like we've never seen before.
Things are going to start coming out in today's world
With things that we should have known a long long time ago
Sorry like always I get caught up into the question on the way that I see it and forget about the question LOL.
Because with every question there's a deeper greater meaning to it

I'm an introvert. That is a very deep introvert. That has had to adapt to the out side world because of work. And for some reason no matter what I'm doing somehow I meet somebody that needs some sort of help either in that moment. Or in a rush because they're getting ready to lose something. If I'm able I help them or if I see somebody struggling I help them but there's nothing more precious than my time at home either in my own head tinkering on something I love quietness. Or having a special someone around me

For me quite time is healing time our bodies every cell in our body is energy it holds everything that we do each and every single day each cell communication with each cell if people understood this they could cure themselves in many ways taking that time to slow down the metabolism or speeding it up to gain knowledge within to me it's just a blessing but I also know that life won't allow you just to stop you have to keep going keep gaining knowledge and self

People are getting more introverted , as we spend all of our time online trying to connect with each other than in real life.

That's why more people are feeling isolated, have fewer close friends, and experiencing more social anxiety, which suggests introversion is on the rise.

There should be discussion on this too.

Oh heck yea man!!! The advancement of technology for sure contributed to the downgrade of our social skills. I do think more people are introverted than extroverted.

I noticed though the older generations are usually extroverted and haven't lost it. While maybe the millennials and the gen zs are more introverted than extroverted. I don't have research backing that up but I'm just speculating.

I feel like gen z and alpha will be worse off than Millennials though. We didn't really have cell phones up to a certain point. Like I remember being in elementary school and hearing about someone in my neighborhood getting a flip phone and they were the only ones.

I remember that was huge news lol. I basically didn't have a cell phone until I was in highschool. The later Gen zs and alphas will have cell phones integrated into their lives. They won't know what life was like before they became popular and so prominent in our lives.

Having social media and instant gratification at their finger tips will have negative results with mental health and social skills

Very true. Olders are more extroverted. I used to be a big extrovert growing up, but now I'm an ambivert, a mix of both.

Very much so, yes. But when I'm in an environment where I truly cannot stand the people I'm around, I almost show that.

Lol I'm the kind of person who deep down wants someone to know just how very much I dislike them in a group, if I truly can't stand them that badly. I wear a fake face with some people at work just to keep the peace, and I show my real self to others I can connect with.

neither honestly, i think most people are socially awkward, have no clue how to hold conversations in person. with the rise of the internet people have gotten worse where people are expendable with no feelings from ghosting to bullying. people have gotten very impersonal and socially stupid with one another

This is exactly what I think as well. Especially on the socially awkward part. I think many people are still in a high school level mindset and are either scared to think deeper or don't know how to. Also America's social culture tends to be very toxic and full of cliquedom.

No question. It's human nature to find you "tribe" so to speak. For some people that's harder than others. And some people are just downright unpleasant to be around. The rise of the internet has allowed people to create a false persona and live out a completely fabricated life one that if things go south for whatever reason. They can demolish it, just create a new name and start again. The problem with this is they seldom ever forge anything real or lasting. It's like gaming. Gaming is fine. Unless all you do is pile up achievements in an imaginary world and none IRL. You never grow as a human being and you miss out on life.

I've actually read articles about the future of the Metaverse. That it will grow to a point where some will live a majority of thier life in it. (Think of tinges of the movie "Gamer" or the movie "siurrogates"). That not only will people find thier entertainment and social interaction but will actually work in the Metaverse. Some of these articles walked the line of saying we might become a species of two worlds essentially the real and the metaverse.

Most people think that the world is mostly extroverted, but there are far more introverts than people realize because while extroverts are screaming ‘I am here, look at me, look at me’, introverts are too busy doing their own thing to care so they don’t promote themselves that much and can sometimes fade into the background even though really they are no less there than extroverts are.

Also some introverts and extroverts assume everyone is extroverted when really they are not. Most people are neither pure introvert nor pure extrovert but somewhere in between so it can be hard to tell, even amongst your friends.

No, I do not.

However, it has become the norm to socialize online - it's more convenient. It's easier to connect online, opposed to having to schedule time to get together - in a often hectic schedule.

It takes 2 minutes to turn on your PC, your phone & connect with people - it takes longer and more effort to get together.

In Denmark - we do a lot of research about technology and the effect it has on people. Children are experiencing FOMO, or fear behind left behind if they're not following the newest trends - spending time with their heads down the phone instead of together. This is becoming the norm.

COVID and the restrictions have shown how important socializing is for us humans - even us introverts.

No. There's just less opportunity to be social. Most people are working longer hours to afford smaller homes and less recreational money. Roads get bigger and sidewalks smaller. Nobody has time or energy left to visit, or maybe even call, so it's down to texting. I hate this environment.
