Think about it this way. A lot of service industry workers are in college and are working a job the believe is beneath them and won't be doing in the future or went to and were told from a young age they needed a high school diploma and a college education to get a good job and be successful (which is partly true). So they got their high school diploma, they did the spent 4 years getting a college degree running up tens of thousands in debt and ended up flipping burgers in McDonalds at minimum wage. What nobody told them was that scrapping by with a college degree is no longer enough, that you have to be academically fit enough to go to college to make your degree worth anything and that majoring in gender studies and feminist dance theory doesn't look good on a resume. Their parents needed a high school diploma to get a good factory job, a college degree to get a real good paying job, their grandparents needed less and here they are working full time a job their parents worked in high school at the weekend or in the summers to put has in their car and to party, meanwhile they living at home with their parents still who don't understand. They are only entering the real world at 22 years of age unprepared for the realities because school and college taught them that a degree was enough rather than the world is a competitive place and do whatever you have to to ensure you get a piece of the pie.
at the entry level, seems same to me if not better. Do you see the complexity these kids have to learn to check someone out... multiple payment methods, cards, gift cards. not like the computers are that much better. I had troubles with basic cash register 40yrs ago.
at the next level I think there's the good workers and those who are not.
Kids need more mentorship outside of school. school on it's own does not create well rounded people. I see this more in sports and girl scouts and such... where kids are taught. Of course at home.
Don't blame the kids, it's blame the parents and the schools but hold them all responsible.
I definitely see bad behaviors, lazy, selfish, discarding trash on the road, lack of discipline. again... training problems. we've gotten too soft, too free. bring back parents.
I didn't name an age group for a reason lol.
It’s so funny that jobs that you don’t want to do or think of yourself too good to work suddenly means “incompetent” for the workers doing them. I went from working fast food to a banker and I had a much, much more stressful life as a fast food worker. Seeing daily people like you who shame people for working in a fast food environment, but also expect them to be educated.
Would you see yourself at your full potential working as a cashier at Burger King? Just saying. And telling these people to not work if they don’t like their job is why the wait times have doubled at establishments. Maybe if you see such a problem you should take their spot and show them how it’s done.
They're very likely less-educated if not totally uneducated.
My husband & I own several businesses and we are equal opportunity employers and, therefore, we give many candidates chances.
Unfortunately, complaints from skilled co-workers and customers are mounting against them which prompt us to terminate them from their positions.
We take no pleasure in "showing these sub-par the door" but we can't afford to compromise an already "well-oiled machine".

In fairness, they said this about "Generation X" young workers in the 1990s. Now that we are older and middle aged, a new generation, or make that two, of young workers has come along to be blamed.
And all too often, what is called "education" IS lacking in value. It is not surprising for twentysomething workers to discover they were all too often sold a false bill of goods in this area, especially when they are paying off big student loans as well. And so yes, they become embittered "slackers" or "quiet quitters".
Speaking from a management experience perspective, it's less about incompetence or inability and a lot more about distraction and not giving a sh*t. Broadly speaking, the results from a customer perspective aren't anything new, but the causes are pretty unique to the 'tiktok' generation.
An incompetent service workforce usually has more to do with overeducation than under. People who know things don't want to do what others tell them to for pennies for every dollar they bring to the owner, who is not there dealing with entitled customers.
Look at the whole Biden Administration. They are the biggest collection of incompetent losers anyone has ever assembled. Each one is a gem.
🤣🤣🤣
Instead of people working their ass off to be recognized this new movement of DEI which I rephrase as DIE (Discriminate, Intimidate, Eliminate) hard workers and reward incompetent staff with promotions to high levels which they have no prior experience in. Just my opinion
"education" these days includes lecturing impressionable minds with useless shit that has no real world value
If that's the case don't go to the hospital when you fall ill. Stay home and die.. problem solved
so you don't get annual screenings? Disgusting doesn't sound healthy to me. Sounds like an individual too whimpy to keep up with his health.
Thats not millenials, thats gen z.
It’s not a lack of education. It’s a lack of respect for human life and a selfishness that we’ve never dealt with before. You’re watching the decline of the US right before your eyes.
Welcome to exclusivity. Unless you're in sales, lazy slugs get paid the same as productive workers.
You just described a union
@love_conquers_lust
That's for sure.
Yep gen z's work ethic has been mostly shit thus far.
And republicans, want to keep it this way. The dumber you are, the more likely you are to vote republicuck
Do you have specific examples? I'm going to be dealing with this so I need to know.
I am not sure there is anything resembling education or values
What education?
Exactly, what education lol 😆
