Do certain leaders in the past deserve to be erased from history?

My best friend has Asperger's syndrome. I say "has", because he's got the brainpower and, bluntly, had the family presence growing up, to have turned it into an asset. Most people with it don't; they see benefits from it, but they suffer from Asperger's. It's better now, but when I was a kid, the disorder wasn't acknowledged. That doesn't mean it wasn't KNOWN, though; Asperger himself did his work back in the 30's. Catch is, he was a Nazi.

As a government official in Germany, he would've been forced to join; the alternative was death on the Eastern front or in prison. That doesn't mean he wasn't a believer, though. And yes, he did indeed sign off on the handing over to the SS of several severe cases as "useless eaters"- but he wouldn't have gotten away with refusing.

He might have been a dyed-in-the-wool Party man who had a soft spot for his "little professors" as he called them. He might have been another Oskar Schindler, just without the resources or opportunities. He might've been a normal person, trying to do what good he could in an absolutely terrible situation- we'll never know. He survived the war, but no one asked him; bluntly, no one would've believed him if he'd denounced it.

But East and West alike condemned him and ignored his work, and millions suffered for it. I know my buddy faced nights where spite alone kept him from killing himself, and I know for a fact that if he'd chosen to- and choice is what it would have been- he could've taken a hell of a lot of people with him when he went. Had society known his condition, a LOT of that pain could've been eased. Hell, a lot could've been avoided altogether. And it ain't like ignoring Asperger's work brought the Nazis' victims back.

If that doesn't answer your question, then head to your local library, check out a copy of Santayana's "Reason in common sense", and slam it into your forehead until you've beaten the stupid out.

The ancient Egyptians were well known for trying to wipe out unpopular pharaohs, even the Romans weren't adverse to smashing up monuments of leaders they want forgot.

But thousands of years later we still know who they are. An attempt to delete just draws more attention.

History isn't a fairy tale story to someone comfortable. History has to remain credible for the sake people with brains can learn from it. Snowflakes and other mentally ill monstrosities can watch netflix with its parallel universe history.

No we shouldn’t. It’s a part of history. Bad part of history sure but we leave them as reminders of what happened so as not to fall back into that type of behavior. Otherwise they need to erase Caesar Chavez.
