Why are some people stupid enough to commit crimes if they're going to prison?

Besides the fact that it's awful and seriously messed up, what's the point of even doing that if you're going to get stripped from your freedom, be locked up for a long time and have no life at all. If horrific enough, some states have death penalty. Why throw away your life like that?

Then I see cases of HS teens 14+ throwing away their lives by committing terrible crimes. They already knew they're going to get charged and sentenced like an adult (with the exception of no death penalty for minors), rot in a cage forever. Was that even worthy? To be locked up forever?

Why are some people that stupid enough to trade their freedom, their life for a cage or getting their life shortened?

I’ll tell you the answer, but you’re not going to like it. I’ve worked in the system and I’ve talked to thousands of criminals. Bleeding heart libs judge criminals based on their own experiences. That’s a big mistake. You mentioned “freedom.” What’s that? You mean like slaving over a job, worrying about putting a roof over your head, worrying about feeding yourself, etc?

Or how about having 7 days off per week. Watching cable TV, playing ping pong, playing pool billiards, playing cards, just showing up for your three meals per day, and free medical and dental.

Trust me! Criminals LOVE prison. I laugh at liberals that want to do away with prisons. What a huge mistake. You’d be taking away their homes. There is no amount of rehab that will fix 95% of them. And most don’t want to be fixed.

When criminals get close to release, they have anxiety attacks. Having to fend for themselves in the real world is terrifying to them. Prison in America is like Club Med.

I talked to a few different officers and most of them say they are looking for money to buy drugs.
Thier brain is so messed up that all they care about is the next high.
They know nothing else.
They don't care about any ramifications for thier actions, they just want the next high.
Once they get that high then it is the next high.
It just never stops so they do anything to get the money for the next high.
It's very sad for those who are the recipients of those crimes.

If you haven't noticed, the cops aren't putting people in jail anymore.
Look at all the big stores in Los Angeles. They get at least 10 people together and ransack the stores and take million's dollars of merchandis and the cops don't ever go after them. The criminals get away with it!
Most criminals know they won't go to jail.

The real answer is they don’t believe they will be caught or suffer any punishments. More than half of the USA breaks the law everyday
