Disaster and destruction in Chicago, what are your thoughts?

Breaking news... over the last several years, thousands of Chicagoans have been murdered. Holly cra!, who knew? A lot of it is gang violence, but there are innocent victims, orphaned children, traumitized residents. It's awful! Fact you don't see it in the news because there's a lot more worse stuff going on...

The news is always about the most awful thing in the world happening now, and there's always something worse. What about the slow trickle of tragedy that gets ignored.

Should President Harris send $100 million into Chicago? What should be done?

And what about all the good news? we never see that only the worst of the worse.

Well, I've heard that this is happening in far more cities in the U. S. than just Chicago. Also Baltimore, Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York, to list just a few. If what I've heard and seen is even just partially correct, your entire nation is going down the dunny, and FAST. Meanwhile, your wonderful government is sending billions of dollars to Zelensky and Israel for reasons that no one seems to know, even though the money they send isn't theirs and is desperately needed at home. "Defund the police", people were chanting a just a couple of years ago. Well... this is the result of that misinformed, idiotic policy. Is anyone really surprised?

Hundreds of thousands of people flee every city every year. And hundreds of thousand move to every city every year. I can't really speak to why but I would suggest considering that those who try to do so might be pushing a narrative instead of actually trying to solve a problem..

That's good to hear. At least in chicago people aren't being pushed into trains... like NYC. NYC is getting better, only 15 people pushed into trains vs 22 last year... that's a plus.

rate... is the trick. relative to small town 5 in 100, is more rate than 1000 in a 100,000. but thousands in one city is much worse than 5 by the same psycho.

@strateguy632 it would be nice if there some way to weigh rates to account for that but the point of pointing it out is 1) it illustrates the enormous number of people in cities that don't engage in such behavior and 2) it holds when comparing cities of similar size between red stated and blue states.
