i believe in teh 2nd amendment but not as the pro-gun folks would suggest, that it gives 100% freedom to own guns
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
i believe in this statement. but the very first clause of the amendment says "a well regulated militia". when you have people buying guns without background checks, owning guns after dozens of police reports/arrests/etc, being committed to mental health facilities, on anti-psychotics, posting in public view manifestos about their plans to commit murders, you do not have a well regulated militia.
basically our laws are not designed the way the 2A was intended. Nothing about these 100s of mass shootings we hear about display a well regulated militia that is necessary to preserving the security of a free State

absolutely. it's my life. and its continuation shouldn't be dependent on whether or not the cops get there in time to save me. I need/have the right to defend myself against violent leftist thugs. Also, my decision to get the "vaccine" should be dependent on my personal choices, and not whether or not the government sends agents to my house to "convince me" to take it. We can all thank the 2nd Amendment for kicking the government in the nuts during the pandemic when the US tried to control their people the way they did in Australia and others. authoritarian rule was stopped in its tracks. You're welcome - 2nd Amendment.
Yes, I believe in our right to bear arms. I think the issue of gun violence is fueled by our for profit healthcare system that leaves people under the poverty line with less access to it, including mental health services. I also think the issue of the separation of the classes in this country plays a part. Pay people a living wage so they can afford to live. Maybe you will have a population who is less inclined to violent extremism. I also think the rise in the political division and the emergence of extremist groups hasn't helped the issue, nor has the eay we report on these crimes. Giving the killer screentime while only mentioning victims in passing. Stop showing their names and faces, fame is what they want. That's my take, anyway.
Yes, of course

I think you should be able to defend your family and also remember not everyone is trying to kill you and your family. It doesn't matter if people want you to be unarmed. You have a right to own a gun.
I'm not a fan of the lack of gun control and I don't think more guns are the answer. I think we can be better with common sense regulations without losing the right to bear arms.
That said if you're responsible, know how to use it properly, are sane, not looking for trouble, hope to never use it, but in the really rare event you need it, yes the second amendment is good.
I believe our founding fathers were far more intelligent than anyone today. And what most don't realize is the most of them were extremely young. 20's thro 30's.
They learned that the right to bare arms was one of the most important rights to in shrine into the Constitution. It doesn't matter if you believe in the 2 amendment or not. It is a Human right to have the most effective tools available to you to defend yourself, family and country. No matter who its from, criminals, animals, governments foreign or domestic.
As for those that say that our foundation fathers didn't know firearm technology would become so advanced. Thats very insulting to one of the most brilliant minds among them, Benjamin Franklin! He was a scholar, Scientist, and inventor. He would had knowledge of all the technologies that already existed in firearms even before his time and during, and there had been many capable of high volume fire!Yes. That crazy guy in Maine has been in a mental hospital, and when in the military he said he heard voices in his head, and threatened to shoot up the military base. There's a lot of blame to go around, but the FBI is more at fault than the gun. Oh, and he killed himself on Friday.
Not especially. It is what it is, an amendment, and should be understood in its historical context and subject to change and interpretation like everything else. The problem is fetish-like obsession, polarization, and religious mythologizing that has brainwashed and informs the American experience. There are other democracies that have less guns, more safety, and arguably more freedom.
Yes, the founding fathers wanted us to be able to defend ourselves against all threats, foreign And domestic. The cops only show up to clean up the mess and the courts just try to make it look like it was whiteys fault.
I think it’s the 2nd because it comes right often the freedom of speech right, like I told my wife it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it, also it is our god given right !
after seeing massacres in other countries in the millions, yes. well regulated.
Of course.. We defending what's yours is a human right.. One of the few we actually have..
Yes. Everyone has an inherent right to defend themselves and others.
Yep, it's there all right.
