I think media that reports that 1 million Americans believe the Earth is flat are mentally ill and the viewers that believe their narrative are even more mentally ill. It's a nonexistent problem that is used to distract the sheep so they get an ego boost by imagining they are smarter than some random imaginary 1 million people. This makes them feel good and gives them a dopamine push. It's like a rat getting a piece of cheese for performing a desired behavior. That behavior is to keep watching the media that is brainwashing them so that the media can maintain control over the viewer's perception of reality.

Estimates put human interactions at roughly 1,000 contacts with other humans a year. If the media narrative were plausable, you should run into 3-4 flat earthers in every day life every single year. In my entire life I have never run into a single flat earther in any year outside of some random troll post on the internet. Law of large numbers infers that the media's numbers are bogus.
