Crimes agains property, or crimes against people? Pick one! I think this goes to a fundamantal difference in philosophy and outlook:
Conservatives are always complaining about property crimes and ignoring or justifying crimes against people.
Liberals are are always complaining about crimes against people and ignoring or justifying crimes against property.
I get what you're saying in theory. I'm confused how to answer because someone owns that property, if you blow up my home in a natural gas bombing... that's a crime against property, but that property is pretty essential short term to my health and happiness and my rescue kitten's feelings of safety, which makes it personal. If you steal my car and I get fired because my boss is a douche canoe and I get fired... is that a property crime or a personal crime? I detest thieves with a fiery white hot hate. But they aren't "just stealing property"... they're stealing the time I had to work to get that... thing... whatever they stole. They're taking money out of my pocket which arguably is taking food out of my rescue kitten's mouths. Now you and I know that I'm not going to be unable to feed them if someone lifts my wallet, but they don't KNOW that when they're doing it. If you spit on me that IS a crime against a person (assault and or battery... depending...), but I'd prefer you do that than steal my car unless you're carrying some super virus that's going to F me up now. Interesting though experiment really. You always read about property crimes and crimes against people... and I would have said an hour ago "duh obviously it's worse against a person"... but now I'm not so sure. I think I was underappreciating the degree to which the severity can change as well as the interconnected element at play there like I started this post off with discussing. I think having lived a great while in places that takes stealing very much as an offense against the person on a more... severe... level than we do (for better or worse), its hard to ignore the human component to it for me.
We speak of victimless crimes (and I'll give you, some of them are), but are there any crimes that don't involve a person being impacted ON a personal level? Maybe that'll chance my mind again.

crimes against people... generally are worse. things are replaceable.
I make exception when it's crimes against live property, like pet or even non property... like animals. Those are as bad. Like... someone burned alive a raccoon recently, that's worse than stealing a bicycle.
But it does P me off when people steal stuff because of the annoyance factor. I've had cat converter stolen, as one example.
There are differences in human rights.
For example, human dignity is considered to be the final, inherent and absolute human right, which means it cannot be restricted or compromised in any case.
Some human rights are absolute, that means they cannot be restricted by the state and they are of the highest importance.
Private Property Rights are not absolute,
A right to life is a supreme, fundamental , inherent human right but its absoluteness is debatable to some states, capital punishment is its one example.
There is also non-absolute character of a right to life, where the states keep a right to restrict the person’s right to life when another person or people’s life’s are seriously threatened by him.
I, though, highly condemn the usage of capital punishment, and advocate the absolute protection of the human life.
For me, as another human being, A right to life, will always be much higher if an importance than any private property.
Not to mention the legal rights and to say from my emotions standpoint.
Rob me, steal from me as much as you want and I can still get back on my feet and work to get everything back as I am alive and someday even if I lose it all, I am certain I can get back things cause I am skillful enough.
But you kill me and you deprive me of the chance to ever enjoy the life again,
And do I need to explain how important human’s right to life is?
Not a single person should be allowed to decide whether I can live or not, I can and should live as long as I am alive.
The right to life is more important than the right of property and everybody who thinks differently has a very little respect to the human life, I don’t want whether to pity or fear such people.
Definitely crimes against people. Hence why if someone does something to make me feel like me or my family (people) are in danger of them committing crimes being against us, I'm going to do my best to eliminate the threat by any necessary means.

u I got no leaning... but crimes against people are definitely worse, for me
Our laws are geared towards protecting property and assets. Granted there is insurance in most cases, the value of protecting people (including children) takes precedence.
Both are equally bad. If you destroy someone's property, you harm them by destroying the fruits of their labor.
