If you are a millionaire with lots of money to spare, would you rather live in a mansion or standard house and why?

1. Do I have a Million Dollars or MILLIONS of dollars.. there's a difference.

2. I'd probably own both because I want to see what it's like Living in a Mansion! If I could afford to hire cleaning crew then even better, but it WOULD be harder not having that and doing it myself because I do have trust issues with people! I'll think about that later lol.

3. In a standard house I will not be able to park my yacht or RV (unless it has a big lot or something...). I mean a standard house can have that too depending on the size of the lot. A standard house can have a 3 car garage, but in a Mansion, you'd have more privacy! It can even be next to the ocean or a lake or a beautiful remote forest! Like a cabin style! I don't really like a lot of neighbors or people next to me, especially if their driving habits are atrocious. Also, I don't really like a lot of NOISE when neighbors (or in my case, I am next to a college dorm so you know how that is! We share a wall). Same thing with an apartment for those who live in one.

4. I also like to impress people. I'd like to be able to have backyard parties and BBQs with a live band next to my swimming pool and gazebo! I like sharing alcoholic drinks and spirits! I also like recessed/light amount of string lights during the night, it feels cozy! I do like to hear chatter and chit chat with my guests.. and a Mansion can accomodate more people than a standard house.

If I was a Millionaire with a lot of Millions, those types of things (maybe can happen once or twice a month) is just a drop in the bucket!

I’d want to still build a home. 3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage. But extra long (long side facing the street for curb appeal). I want to run around in it like a big kid I dont want it to look like this but its an example of how long i want it to be

A normal house would be preferable for me, although a top tier one with a mixed theme between a log cabin and a karate dojo that’s revolved around the bonsai tree. A mansion just sounds excessive, it’s too much to manage as a Giga Chad who generally prefers to do certain things alone to assure they’re done right, and it would just be more space to create a void out of and feel more empty. I don’t like feeling like I’m engulfed in death or nothing. I would take Pretzel and my cousin (s) with me if she chooses and have two special rooms. One for making my Lego stop motion (s) movies and the other for working, making Conga for the American people as I will be and AM the worlds greatest Conga Artist. I will make Conga GREAT AGAIN!! I would probably get another cat since Nala and Papaya would stay with my mother and you just can’t have a cat unless there’s at least two, otherwise go jump in a body bag and toss yourself into the Mississippi River where only fish can find you. Oh yes the house, um… yeah that’s about it, with some things I am simple man.

I would take a standard house, but not a suburban tract home. I like my current location on 30 gorgeous acres with a view in a rural area.
I would be fine just upgrading my 1600 sq ft home. I would do more things to my property to make it self-sustainable and immune from fire threats, as well as energy and food outages/shortages.

When I was in my 20s, I went to Dan Haggerty's (Grizzly Adam's) house in Burbank. He was a famous millionaire at the time, but I was surprised to see that the outside of his house looked very modest. And it was in a normal neighborhood. It was luxurious but not opulent inside. I like that attitude.

Millionaires tend to live in standard houses. Median house prices are roughly $430K these day in the USA. There's half your million right there, throw in a couple cars, a boat, some other personal property, and a retirement account and you've found yourself a millionaire. Large waterfront homes in nice areas of Florida for example tend to run from $10-$50 million... So you generally are either in debt up to your eyeballs ready to lose it all at any second to live in one or you're a hundred millionaire...

I'm a millionaire, lots of money... so I would have two identical mansions, one on each coast...

and would also have four regular houses... one of each cardinal points of the country

and last but not least... I would built a resort in the middle of the country... and could live there as well...

Good question for me.

I am undecided between a big condominium or a relative small-to-medium sized mansion (similar to what Andrew Tate has).

For the condominium or mansion having 2-4 bathrooms is my sweet spot, having 2-3 spare rooms (on top of me having one) is also good enough for me on top of having a spacious lobby (for the mansion also if it can lead to the pool and garden). A garage for housing for 2-4 cars is preferable.

Far from humble but also not completely overdone like a drug lord and gangster rapper would have it, so that i'll become notorious and a high priority target. I don't want to live like I need security on my ass 24/7 like 6ix9ine.

I never understood the appeal of buying a bunch of expensive things but now it makes more sense. It is not for their utility, it is for investment purposes and makes a good safety net in case something bad happens to your finances and you lose a lot of your money. You can sell all of the expensive stuff that you never use as a backup as their value only increases over time, especially if you never use it.

Trick question. When you have more money than the average person, your idea of big & small is different too. So other people think you live in a "big house" but half of your friends & everybody else with your money doesn't think it's big at all

I wouldn’t mind a mansion, but I rather a bit standard but not the standard in this pictures. Something more appealing and bit bigger, just because I have family members that visit often. Honestly I would rather a couple guess houses disconnect form the main. they can sleep there.

I think a little bit more comfy house in good district far away of poor people is the best option. For big mansion you need a lot of people who work for you and it's a security risk. The less people know about your wealth the smaller is the target sticker on your back.

I'd live in between those 2 options. I wouldn't get a mansion. That is too big and I'd need too many support people to clean and care for it. I would like a decent sized house though with some open land around it so I don't have neighbors right on top of me. Bigger than the modest ranch you have in the picture. Our current house is about 3,000 square feet. I'd maybe upgrade to a 5,000 square foot house.

Depends what you classify as a "mansion". I've seen a house that's listed for 800k in my hometown that I'd buy if I was rich. To me that is a mansion. Anything beyond that is just excess. It has just about every creature comfort I could think of. Why would I want more?

Was in America a while back doing habitat for humanity. We were renovating mansions for Mexican families to own. I couldn't believe it. Apparently all the whites left the neighbourhood and they became very run down.

If I had the money I'd probably tried to live in a everyday ordinary home. The maintenance on that place would be cheaper. The taxes on the property would be a lot less. And the neighbors would be a lot nicer than those that are in snob Hill.
