I would say rather that it underscores something that has already been spelled out for decades. The delicate balance between making the rich feel smart and making the poor feel relevant that democrats for which democrats exclusively occupy the fulcrum is getting ever more difficult to maintain.
The core assumption of democrats is that rigid ideology, regardless of which side it's on, is toxic - even when a rigid ideology has the clear moral high ground. It is the greatest challenge of democracy to live with the fact that that you do have to compromise with hate. It seems like "obviously we should draw the line at genocide!" But obviously the people committing it disagree.
The fact is there are right wingers in the US who agree with the genocide and they are in sufficient numbers that they need representation. It may be our failure to pay enough attention to out public education system that we would have prevented the erosion of lessons on why genocide is a bad thing and we can reverse that course but we can't change the people who have already gone down the road, nor can we disregard them. They are our shit and now we know to pay better attention to what we eat. But we can't pretend it is someone else's shit and so not our problem. We have to compromise with it or admit democracy can't work - which is the core assumption of Republicans and why republicans have spent decades trying to put a harness on that shit, to make sure it stays warm and in everyone's face so we conclude democracy is too hard..

Those voters will NOT vote for Trump in November.
But the also won't vote for Biden either. While not a positive for Trump, it could be a negative for Biden which could potentially hurt him.
when it comes down to it, their fear of Trump will win out, and they'll vote Biden
Didn't happen in 2016 when Trump beat Hillary.
Possibly, I'm not American. I was sad when Marianne dropped out as the only leftie Democrat. Ah well.
