I would say rather they have a moral obligation to not be assailants.
They are asking those questions because they voted for socialism, were the state sanctions violence against it's citizens. As a result, criminals are let onto the streets to oppress the population. But they like getting punched in the face, because they keep voting for it and they are happy to live in those places.
If you get involved in somebody else's fight, that could be the end of your life.
The men in NYC are well aware of what would probably happen if you do step in- either you get caught up in it or you end up getting prosecuted.
I'm 70 and had a stroke three years ago, but I believe I'd try to intervene. Women being punched in the face with impunity is a sign of societal rot.
