Like, if we all knew for certian that an asteroid is going to destroy earth completely in a matter of hours, would you tell your own children that they had to die or would you let them live their last few hours in as much bliss as you could provide? Or would you just walk away from them altogether to enjoy your own last few moments since their pain and pleasure are no longer in your control?

Similar question but not for an asteroid - rather some religious nationalist country that has been marinating in fantasies of grievance and genocidal solutions for decades and suddenly found themselves with power and an excuse, coming to kill everyone. You and your kids are certian to be included and powerless to stop it. Would you tell them?
