Going into marriages with the attitudes of what's ifs and transactionary mindset is a recipe for disaster. It WILL break. Because you are already making the arrangements for "incase it breaks", the vibes will manifest. Marriages are like building a garden, you need to water it , manure it , change the soil from time to time. You need to nurture it and than it will give you fruits. If you go with "well if incase this plant doesn't give me fruit, I better be cautious of the amount of manure I use for it" than guess what, it will actually not give you fruits. Don't plan for "incase of failure", give it your all regardless of the outcome. Enjoy the process, don't dwell on the outcome.
Prenuptial agreements are meaningless in the US. Courts completely ignore them here every single day. Between the many laws used to delegitimize prenups and the fact that most courts don’t have to honor any document that didn’t originate in that same court, you may as well wipe your butt with it.
Not getting married isn’t even a solution anymore. In response to the floundering marriage rates, more US states have started allotting “palimony”, a financial support system under which men pay their former girlfriends or female roommates. Just because you didn’t marry her doesn’t mean you don’t owe her!
Don’t even get me started on “dad by default” laws!
The “man tax” isn’t coming, mates. It’s here. They just haven’t gotten around to all of us yet. They’re going slow, like the simmering frog.

Why "mandatory"? It seems to me guys who support that shouldn't get married in the first place. If they distrust women so much, they should stay single. They are the types who would make shitty husbands.
On the other hand, some guys have the discernment to choose good wives and the character to treat them right.
Prenups aren't just for men. One of my friends had a Prenup done up before she agreed to marry her husband, because she works a very good job and didn't want him to get used to living off her salary. She trusts him, but doesn't want to give him a possible incentive to hold against her if worse comes to worse.
I would not get a prenuptial because I don't plan on getting married at all. It's already too governmental for me, even without adding in a mandatory prenup. No thank you brother.

Canada only gives you 50% if you have been together for more than 20 or 25 years and the rich partner initiated the divorce rather than you.
imagine this scenario:
a woman abandons her career to wash your underwear, wakes up early to cook you breakfast , dinner everyday so that you can dedicate hours working overtime so that you can make more money / build your career. She raised all your kids so you don't have to lift a finger as a a father. Your kids just grew up all on their own without you ever having to lift a finger. Then 15 years later, you want to divorce her for a woman 20 years younger.
wouldn't it be fair to give her a substantial amount of money since you would never have been able to reach such success without her help? this is why alimony exists.
Agreed 110% I've been saying this too that prenups should be mandatory or else the marriage can not go forward. It would save a lot of men's futures. There aren't many women out there who would even agree to a pre-nup and that in and of itself is very telling... Goes to show that they only care about money.

Given today's climate I think so. I mean think about it women are equal now so they don't need half of a guy's assets anymore. And men would have nothing beyond her faithfulness to feel suspicious of. At least if she divorces him he knows it won't demolish his finances. So I think mandatory prenuptial would be a beneficial for everyone.
I definitely agree to this. I would agree to a prenuptial agreement because I wouldn't want him to think I'm trying to take him for all he's worth. It should be about love after all not money.
There shouldn't even be need, they just need to change the law to get rid of no-fault divorce, end permanent alimony, and ensure that women who cheat or decide to wreck their own home because they are bored get absolutely NOTHING.
