Should Californians have a right to bare arms?

A woman was attacked and killed by a bear... after the bear over days repeatedly broke into her home. She left food out for her cats and trash which drew the bear in for easy food. Should she be allowed to buy a weapon... quickly to defend herself?

The right to self defense is fundamental.

The fable of the "bear sleeping in my bed"... maybe isn't all that far off for those that live in the wilds.

I just got done with a jury duty clear as day self defense on paper. He started talking to a cop and every constitutional right was flipped on his duty to prove innocent with self defense. I thought I was the most liberal anti gun person around. The self righteous boomers put me to shame. JUST Full control of destiny with proper manners. Just excuse for inate survival instincts to use and fight without cognitive control to survive one more second at the cost of a massive toll to your mind body and soul.

If you get yourself in a self defense trial aim for liberal jury then fucking boomers is all I'm saying.

yes, eye openers seeing these thins on tv, even more so in court... it's all about the judge writing the rules and the area... the type of people on jury.
so the guy talked to teh cops and they used it against him? it's a good lesson for us all. What to do when the cop asks "what happened"? by not talking, makes you look guilty.

The only word you know is lawyer. Until you get a lawyer. double check he's a lawyer with a bill of service. The guy who was a son of a cop did only say lawyer at his home but after 24 being awake and construction labor did talk to the cops. The cops didn't even finalize the scene (that the cops half assed search start to finish because it was a clean cut self defense) but just after his testimony.

Don't give a fuck about looking guilty looks only go so far in the court of law. Understanding talking to cops automatically MAKES you guilty in the ears of a jury. Fuck what the cop thinks, it never actually matter. don't piss then off but don't give an inch of anything. It's the long awaited battle with a jury years from now that only matters.

As a native Californian, no we should not. I live in a town with virtually no crime. Don’t have to worry about someone pulling a gun out on me during road rage. Don’t have to worry about any of that. Not to mention, most gun owners are incompetent.
A bear attack is a cheap excuse for a whataboutism as if bear attacks don’t happen even in open carry states. A gun will never 100% protect you from any and everything and frankly, bring more crime and redneck ignorance to any given area. No thanks.

I'm a supporter of giving bears the right to bare arms. Nothing better than a clean and even fight.. or cowardly trigger pull. Not really a fight. Best aim wins. Or lives.. of not only in part (s).

Sure they can have bare arms. They can go totally sleeveless if they want.

They can also bear arms. Gun ownership is not banned in California. It is protected by the second amendment. Although, California does try to limit guy ownership by passing restrictive laws. Still, there are gun stores all over the place and lots of people own guns. It's even possible to get a license to concealed carry.

If I lived in an area where there were dangerous animals, I would not leave any kind of food or pets outside that would attract them and TRY to not have to kill them to protect myself... Maybe not always possible.

Shouldn't the question be whether all Americans should have the right? Allowance for weapons for self-protection depending on state seems weird. Then again I hail from a unitary state and am not used to federal structures.
