How is gen X household one so high when houses were much cheaper back then? And they've had about 30 years to pay it off?
Anyway I'm 25, None and probably will be that way forever, I don't plan on buying a house unless if I can pay it all off in one go. Which depending how good my investing goes I could get one in my 40s.
And housing inflation is super low compared to the % gain on what I invest into so I'm not concerned if houses by then cost more cause mine should out perform that margin by quite a bit anyway.
@AviatorTom Ah good point that makes sense. Good thing Uk is way way cheaper on that, not that I would bother with it anyway.
10k mostly student loans. i'm paying that off though and not planning on getting more loans. i'm 40.
I was pretty irresponsible with credit cards so between that and what I still owe on my car around 10k. Had student loan debt too but not anymore.
We have about 30k left to pay off our house. That is the only debt that our household has

I'm not sure what the total is, as they keep giving me different amounts. It's somewhere between $13,000 and $32,000.
It's not really MY debt, I kind of inherited it from my stupid aunt.
She mortgaged the house before she died to give her scammer buddies MORE money than they already took her for, then she died shortly after and left the house to me so, now, I'M STUCK having to pay the mortgage myself and I just don't have the money to do it!!
It's also the bank's fault because, when they started sending the bills for it 4 years ago, I HAD the money and COULD'VE paid them off within about 18 months but, they didn't WANT MY money!! They wanted my dead aunt's money and I was paying HER bills the last 4 months she was alive because she was flat broke!!! So, now, they've added late fees and interest to what she owed and I can't even pay 1/10 of that, anymore!! I JUST paid $1000 in taxes so, I'm lucky if I've got $2000 in the bank!!
My personal debt is just credit cards, which according to my credit report is 4% of my authorized credit limit. Only other debt my wife and I have is the mortgage, which is around $40K; my wife owns our house.
It's interesting that the chart shows that overall debt has gone down between 2024 and 2025, with millennials being an exception. Wonder why that is?
The only debt I have is a mortgage with my partner which is currently at $455k. I paid off my student loan a couple years ago. Never had a credit card.
none at the moment... and not planning to acquire any either
10 grand in a credit card. I charged expensive dental work.
I have zero. It took a long time to pay it all back.
lol what? Including mortgages?
Zero, I'm no slave and I'm 28
