Because most jobs, certainly the entry level ones, are not meant for Americans anymore. You can work them, but you better be prepared to live like someone from a 3rd world country. Most jobs don't even want to offer benefits anymore. Offering healthcare used to be standard (even for a those flipping burgers). Half of them don't even do that anymore. And you cannot blame employers. Because healthcare has gotten pretty prohibative to thier bottom line. They're just doing what is best for them financially. But you do not keep the best workers this way. But that's the point. You're ik with high turnover in an entry level job.
There is a breaking point to all this. But it won't be till unemployment hits double digits and right now it's at 4.2 which isn't bad. But people are losing ground every day. I think what'll eventually break is the next market major or "crash" if you will. What happens when even those jobs you speak of aren't available, yet people are getting laid off left and right because corporations are trimming thier payroll. Then the chickens will come home to roost.
Mostly globalization and automation. Employers moved many jobs offshore where they could pay lower wages, and automation reduced the need for unskilled or semi-skilled labor. There are still trades short of workers in some locations. I don't know if those jobs pay a living wage, but they pay more than minimum wage.
Because wages haven't kept up to cost of living, since that time.
Why? I need money
Blame the boomers. They caused this mess.
Things are so expensive it’s very difficult
The economy is really tilted in favor of the rich, and if you aren't one of them, you're going to have a hell of a time. Welcome to Trump.
Because most people don't know how to properly handle the money that they do have, and they live beyond their means
Because they are intentionally getting rid of the middle-class
Dirty Immigrants and foreign wars.
consumerism... that's why
Probably because they live beyond their means
Republican politicians.
Not democrats at all tho, I'm sure...
