How common is it to work on a boring job you hate and will never get promoted?

Scenario:
The hobby you love either doesn't pay much, you have little time to invest on it, not much position are available, they pay you less than the boring job or you don't have enough money to build your own business yet.

The job you have to work at to either provide for your family, pay your needs or invest your future business pays ok but you hate it so badly. When you get up in the morning to work, you're thinking ''Here I go again, back to the boring thing''. You'll never get promoted and do the exact thing every day.

My case:
I hate translating on the phone. I hate translating 400 minutes to people. I sitting on the chair for hours and answering the phone. I hate talking to people nonstoppable. I hate back-to-back calls. I hate translating. I hate the job.

I love going to my Judo classes and learning new things. I love cooking new or elaborated dishes. I love learning about new foods from different countries.

How common is that?
