Is she keeping her options open?

This girl I met at work and I have been trading looks for awhile. I recently started talking to her and flirting with her and she definitely acts interested. It isn't in my head either because other people have commented to me about her behavior around me. Here's where it gets weird. I asked her out and she gave me a big shy smile and said "Maybe!" I blew this off and cold-shouldered her for a week before asking her again. This time I get another "maybe" with the same shy smile and a "be patient, I'll let you know when I'm ready." Then I find out last week she has a boyfriend from someone else yet she has NEVER mentioned it to me once.

What I make of this is a couple things. She would have used the boyfriend as a deflector if she wasn't interested, but she hasn't, not even close. This makes me think that she has very little confidence in their relationship. The second thing it tells me is that she doesn't want me to lose interest because she wants me around if or when this current relationship falls apart.

Perhaps I've misread all this, but what do you think, is my analysis right on or what?

There are different possibilities. She may be feeling that her relationship with the boyfriend is not good enough and is "observing" you to see if you can be a better choice. But she may be just enjoying the attention also. Most girls don't mind to have an admirer. Sometimes it turns into something else, sometimes it doesn't.
