Why do girls make a "duck-face" when taking photos of themselves?

Duck face girl? Why do girls make a "duck-face" (that exaggerated air-smootch you see in girls online photos) when taking photos of themselves? It's not a very attractive photo to take.

reason 1: it makes their cheekbones appear more definded and lips fuller. of course, that comes at the cost of looking like a complete idiot..

reason 2: they think that it makes it gives the impression that theyre fun, messing around, and don't care about how they look, as in are more chill. really, its the opposite, as in theyre more uptight and concerned about how they look. for ex 'oh she's not trying to be sexy, she's just having fun and making 'random' weird faces but somehow still looks really hot'.

reason 3: they see other girls do it. long live our fellow females' inabilities to not be act like idiots just to be like everyone else *clap*

reason 4: theyre f-ing retards.

I hate it. I have no idea why people do it, I guess they think they are being attractive and alluring? Not many of my friends do it, but I know lots of teens in high school do. I saw this one chick's pics and she was doing it in EVERY picture. It was not attractive. Her pictures would be better if she just smiled like normal.

When my boyfriend and I started dating he told me specifically, as long as you don't do what's in this video, we will be fine!

Reason as to why: Little aminals are adorable. Ducks are little aminals. Therefore, ducks are adorable. Adorable and attractive are synonyms to an extent. Interchange adorable for attractive, and you get 'ducks are attractive'. Imitating a duck, then, presumably makes you attractive. :D

Seriously, this one girl I saw online, has a whole set of pictures where her lips are parted. People ask her about it and SHE ACTUALLY SAID "SHE TRAINED HER LIPS TO BE LIKE THAT!"

Which is bullsh*t, because on a couple of her pictures where she seems relaxed or slightly grinning, her face looks f***ing normal.

It's funny, because not only does it look stupid, but instead of cutting it out, they try pretending they're not doing any sort of pose.

Same boring reason: young naive girls fresh on the market (or who want to be) who want to experiment with broadcasting their sexual potential by beckoning indiscriminately with their lips to anyone unfortunate enough to look in their direction. Like the swollen ass a female chimpanzee gets when she's in heat, the duck face lips can either mean "you can kiss my lips" or "you can kiss my ass", but the attention whores who make these faces really seem to be hoping for both.

It is very stupid. My cousin's daughter is on facebook all the time doing that. She is in her 20s and married and doing it. I had to stop following her I got so sick of seeing her do that.

Because it makes your lips look plumper, it draws your cheeks in showing off the cheek bones and making you look slimmer. Plus it's the whole Marilyn Monroe/model thing of "kiss me".

Cute girls making the "duck face", makes them very unattractive. So my feeling is. They apparently aren't interested in having a boyfriend & probably are planning a life of solitude.
So sad.. Because my wife of 32 years, has enhanced my life. We are a team, we complete each other & as hard as I try. I can't imagine my life without her.
