I don't want to be Muslim anymore, can I change religion?

My parents are Muslims and everyone in my family.

But I don't want be Muslim anymore because:

i can't drink

i can't wear tops and skirts like other girls do( even when is very hot and summer)

I have to wear scarf and can't show hair

And I have to pray 5 times a day

I really hate it. I am 18 and I want become christian.

I am afraid my parents would be shocked and won't allow me ( I live with them) , how can I convince them or how to tell them I want change religion?

and tell me if I can change religion? and how can I do ?

This is so interesting. I think you should just ease your way out of Islam. Slowly transition from Islam to Christianity by going to church with Christian friends, get a bible, and start adopting some Christian beliefs.

I don't think you should tell your parents about your full transition until you are completely secure in your new religion. If they really love you and care for you, they'll still accept you. It's really not something you need their permission for. You are an 18 year old adult. Religion is a personal choice. You shouldn't follow a lifestyle and believe in a religion because mommy and daddy told you to. I think it's very mature and shows a lot of growth for you to be strong enough to recognize that Islam is not giving you the things you seek in life as an individual then to take the steps to ensure that you get what you want out of life through your religion.

Personally; religion is a state of mind. I don't see what the big fuss is about. If you're not hurting someone else and you're still a respectful, decent human being; then who cares what religion you choose to believe in? I wish people wouldn't make such a huge deal about religion.

You definitely can be any religion you want to be. I suggest you first just look into all religions and learn more about them and find one that feels right to you.

I personally am more of a spiritual person than religious but could identify myself most with Christians I suppose. I don't think you really need a label or anything just do what you know is right you know.

Maybe work on moving out of home first and try living on your own. After you've done that and have maybe learned more about what you want in your life have a talk with them. I wouldn't bring it up while you're still home and relying on them, and I don't know your family but if they take their religion seriously I can't imagine they will be necessarily happy with your decision so you need to expect that and accept it. Just as they can't make you want to stay Muslim you cannot make them be okay with this if it upsets them.

If it really upsets them I would try and give it time and keep in mind you're doing what's best for you.

You can change religion in your heart and mind, but you'll have to tell your parents about it if you want those Muslim "duties" to stop applying to you. They probably won't take you seriously if they think it's just because you don't like those things, so if you tell them, I would recommend making it seem like you're doing it because the theories and teachings of Christianity appeal to you more, that you relate to it more than Islam.

But I think you should wait until you don't live with them anymore. Less conflict.

From a Muslim perspective, you aren't obligated to have the choice of converting to another religion without there being some form of penalty from "apostacy". You will need to be rather careful, in the UK especially which isn't a Muslim state and doesn't legally allow honour killings or killing apostates that leave islam, it still happens fairly regularily here, sometimes by their own parents.

You need to be certain this is your decision that you want to pursue, don't mess around with religion and only you will know how your parents will react to you changing faith and leaving islam. Only become christian if you truly do believe in the beliefs and you feel strongly about it, for a start you should begin learning about the faith and attending mass. Ask your priest about arranging baptismal classes before you get baptized

You can, but better do it when you gonna live on your own and far away from your parents, there are many stories about girls being mutilated or even killed by their own Muslim families because of their "Transgressions", also your decision should be final because your religion doesn't tolerate leaving it and then returning, you couldn't return, but it looks like you already are not having faith in it anyway.

Your parents will probably be very upset, and may even kick you out. I would play it safe and not tell them about it until you have somewhere to go just in case they do kick you out. Maybe you can practice Christianity privately until you can move out.

if you don't want to be Muslim and don't believe in what islam represents-you're not Muslim anyway. your problem is your parents lifestyle-they're (i'm guessing) very religious,so I doubt they'll let you become a christian-so you should wait until you move out

Why do you want to become Christian? You don't have to have a religion if you don't want to. Only be a Christian if you truly believe in what it's about, but just because it's a different religion.

Whether you can convince your parents or not is a matter of how religious they are. If they're deeply religious they're not going to tolerate it, and you're going to have to move into your own home before you can be free to do what you want.

basically what you are presenting is like an inferiority complex by seeing other girls doing fun stuff and you feel limited because of "restraints". if you want to change your religion to christianity it should be on the basis of religious beliefs. there are Muslims that do not wear scarves and other things and live fulfilled happy lives. I know because I have Muslim friends. however if you seriously believe in christian beliefs then you should consider changing your religion. and all that talk about honor killings and whatnot only exists in uneducated Muslim people. properly educated Muslims do not accept that nonsense as murder is a crime. again I'm citing what a Muslim friend has told me.

I feel sorry for you.Firstly you need to live by your own and move out from your house or maybe country(if necessary).It would be complicated for you to have different kind of religion when you are staying with them.You will face lots of unnecessary drama.

It's your choice. You can convert or just become non-religious. You can also keep your religion (basic beliefs) but not be as devout.

I think you should move out first before you openly express your decision.

Hey!! You are kinda Stupid. you don't have to obey every rule of any religion. and who said u u HAVE TO do all those things to be a Muslim. I am a Muslim and i drink a bit and wear shorts and bikinis. being a Muslim is believing Allah is true god and Mohamed is is messenger. by the way if you are obeying christian rules it kinda same. the only difference most christian don't follow their rules.

I dont agree with you about the part that Mohamed is the messenger and that the Christianity has kind of the same rules.. It is true that there is only one GOD and that we all believe in the same God, but the thing that brings the difference between two religions is to know God through the teachings and life style of mohammed or through the teachings and life style of jesus. Because those two prophets are different. Mohamed married so many wifes even a 9 year old one, Jesus is only known to have one soulmate Maria.. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR RELIGION. You should be thankful to Allah that you are born in a Muslim family and is raised Muslim. How can you even think of changing your religion which is so pure? Well I understand your predicament but freedom to wear what you want or drink or let your hair out should not be the basis for becoming a Christian that's not what Christainity is about sweetie, believing in Jesus Christ as the son of God and Saviour is. You don't have to switch religion. You can just stop practising yours for the time being. If it helps you, become an atheist and afterwards maybe you can take interest in some other liberal religion. Always remember that you don't have to pray to live. You may not like Islam but that doesn't mean you'll like Christanity. And I can ensure you that Christanity is not the most liberal religion in the world. And try to move out of your parents' home as early as possible.
