For the purpose of this question wrestling is included in combat sports. Some organizations have already eliminated weight cutting for minors in skool sports and extracurricular activities. Adults should be allowed to make that choice for themselves, right? Or is there something intrinsically noble about protecting idiots from themselves?
https://youtu.be/kKjpxd25Y4U?si=K69ORQt8rkgNegJw Generally i am the kind of person who thinks we should eliminate warning labels from EVERYTHING and let natural selection do its thing. For some reason i’m on the other side of this. Maybe it’s because the advantage sometimes comes from who can cut the most weight and then effectively rehydrate and get back to a healthy weight for competition. Whereas i believe victory should be determined by the greatest degree of conditioning, skill and plan implementation. If fighters were subject to random weight checks along with PED screenings, their normal, healthy body weight and peak condition body weight could be tracked. Then they could fairly and safely match similarly sized athletes for competition. What do you think? Should weight cutting be eliminated from combat sports?

Should weight cutting be eliminated from combat sports?
Eliminating weight cutting in combat sports is a topic of great debate. Weight cutting can lead to severe dehydration, posing health risks. It shifts the focus from skill and conditioning to who can manage extreme weight fluctuations. Instituting random weight checks could promote fairness and safety, ensuring athletes compete at their optimal weights. Prioritizing health and skill over drastic weight changes seems beneficial for the sport's integrity and participants' well-being.🎯 It encourages athletes' peak performance based on their natural abilities rather than risky practices.
