Can the admin of my school account still see what I have browsed even though my web activity was paused?

Can the admin of my school account still see what I have browsed even though my web activity was paused during the time of my searching? (When web activity is paused it shouldn't be recording anything) It says there is no activity to see, however I am concerned the school admin has some type of 'supieror' account that lets them see whatever I have browsed even though web activity was not enabled.
Note: I was not on the schools network. Neither using a school device.

I am not quite sure what is the setup, in order for the administrator to see what you're doing they either need access to your computer (physical or via a software) [to record any browsing or view the browsing history] or that you are using an Internet access that they have control over [in which case they could potentially 'listen' to everything you send or receive from the Internet].

Either way it is quite a bit of effort and time to do so, so it is highly unlikely that they would even go into the pain of actively finding out unless they have a specific reason to do so.

I wasn't connected to the schools network so i dont think they had control over my internet, and also my web activity was on pause so doesn't that mean nothing was recorded?

What do you mean by 'your Web activity was on pause' ? Do you have some special software on your computer?

On google you can go to 'your activity' which is basically where your account history is stored, & when you put 'web activity on pause' its supposed to not record any further history on your account. Also I was at home, using my own wifi and on my own computer.

But I do have a question for you, you're obviously not obliged to answer but I am rather curious. I cannot possibly imagine what sort of subject would a school forbid you to look into on Internet. Unless it is some really conservative school, the point of a school is to teach you to look for information, filtering out the rubbish and having an educated understanding about it. Whether you speak of porn, hacking, bomb making, lockpicking, or any other such subject, I see no reason to restrict it as long as the intent is not to harm someone and that you are able to make your own independent mind about it.
What is the subject that they are forbidding you to look into?

I've asked a friend at school and he said they can see because they record everything by video.. even when using your own eifi and device. So im pretty much busted.

With what you have told me so far, I believe your friend is talking nonsense. How do they record the video? Do they have a camera in the room where you used your computer? And that happens to be pointing to your screen? Or have they installed a software on your computer?

No they haven't installed any software. My friend says that even whilst at home, all searches on my account will be synced into my school chromebok when I get to school. I dont really understand...

You should be fine. If you're just logged into a Google account I don't think they can check your history, and they usually only check stuff like that if they're already mad at you. I also don't think a school is allowed to punish you for doing something off school grounds outside of the school day. Unless you were looking up how to blow the place up, you should be fine. (If you were, use private browsing and VPN. I am a writer, not a terrorist, but I'm probably on a ton of watchlists.)

If you're you're using a personal device then no... if it's a school device, yes they technically could if they really really wanted to see what you were browsing. But if they don't have a reason to look for that info, then they wouldn't find it.

But can't the administrator log into my account and see what i've been browsing even outside the schools network? How can I make sure they don't find any traces of evidence? Also, thank you for taking the time to reply to my concern!

I really don't think they can if you didn't use your school devices. They shouldn't be able to track it that way. But in the future... keep your school related stuff and personal stuff on separate devices.

If you weren't using a school device and are not on a school network, I fail to see how school could see anything you do.
Did you somehow browse the Web through a school login?

I didn't notice that I was logged onto my school email account on google. So i ended up browsing things I shouldn't of...

If it was just an email account, they can read your emails on that account (I'd expect) but I don't expect them to be able to see what your browsing.
Unless you were on a school wired or wireless network.

But can't the administrator of my account simply go into my account and look at my browsing history?

I don't know the software you are using but from what you've said, no.

And you use Google Chrome Web browser?
And your Google Chrome browser was logged into the school Google account?

I've checked my school website, and this is what they said: "This includes the filtering and monitoring of all internet access and email through the school's network".

So unless you were connected to the school network at the time, it sounds like you're ok.

Google accounts save browsing history, so they might be able to see it from the admin panel. It has been a while since I messed with the admin panel so I am not sure if they can see saved and deleted history.

Provided you are using Google Chrome browser, yes, Google save some browsing data.
But unless your Google account is directly accessible by school (they can login to it), that does not matter.
And you haven't said one way or the other about that.

Just do a daily cleanup of your browsers' cache and history, scan with a good AV to be sure there's no keystroke logger.

I spoke to a friend in school about it, and he said the school records (by video) everything you do on the internet using the school account. Even when on your own device and at home. So im really scared.
