If you were to play a video game with your current/future partner, would you talk to them like any other competitor?

Do you encourage them to catch up? Do you cuss/curse them out? Do you ease up to “let them win”? And so on... I think I was the only nice person back then 😂 I would not let the guy win, but I do say encouraging things even if he sucked. I’m not the “Ha! I’m whooping dat ass type”. But the guys I played against almost always were. I’m thinking back to the elementary days of Mario Kart 64 and the college days of Online pool. They could never just admit when I won. It was always “I let you win” or some actual rude shit. Probably why I never played games (outside of pool) online because someone always had something smart to say lol #FeelFreeToList

I am a very regular and addicted player of 8ball pool by Miniclip.. I almost play it on a daily basis unless there's some emergency or some imp hectic work... and I've introduced many friends and students and my own kids to the game and taught them what step by step thinking is because i'm a teacher by profession... I don't believe in competing with the unlearned or less skilled, instead I get into full blown teaching mode and start giving a lecture to those who don't know... That's why no one who knows me plays with me... And I'm not the sore loser type, instead I feel good and accept defeat with a smile knowing that I can always beat them some other time as there's a huge luck factor in games, and always winning is always improbable in any game, and there wouldn't be any fun in knowing that I am going to win for sure. Okey I should stop my lecture and anwer your question...

Yeah, I'm just like you, I don't cuss or insult or make fun of someone if they're losing to me, I use encouraging words while defeating them just like you do.

And if it's some better player than me and beating me and insulting/cussing etc, then I accept defeat with a huge grin and promise myself to get better at the game but never play with this a. hole again. 😁😁😁

I would most likely try to play a cooperative video game with a partner. If we played something competitive I wouldn't go easy on her. I'd rather play cooperatively and train her how to be good so we could team up against other people.

I wouldn't talk to her the way I do to other friends, and especially not the way I would talk to strangers/acquaintances.

If she is a more playful sassy kind of person I may be able to joke around and tease her during the game, but it still wouldn't be the same as I talk to other people.

I prefer games where we are just as good/bad at. Those are the most fun. Losing and winning backnand forth.

On the ps2 I was a big fan of the DragonBallZ Budokai Tenkaichi series. I played that religiously and a friend came over who also had the game.

I destroyed him 😅 so he kept switching characters and I did too but still kept losing. Finally he picked the Great Ape character, so did I. He won and triumphantly he put his hands in the air calling himself I kid you not "King of the Giants"

My dad was in the room at the time of that last match and when my friend went home dad goes "You let him win, didn't you?" I was like "yea..."

Games where you must hold back or curse at the other isn't fun. If you're both as good you'll enjoy it more and it's always Those games that you two end up coming back to.

My ex played Borderlands 3 with me, introduced me to the game. We just had fun together. I'm super impressed how patient he was. Never belittled me even though I'm a coward when playing. He was just encouraging and supporting me.

I wouldn't ease up in terms of how I play but also I have a very chill playstyle and my primary game isn't very competitive oriented anyways.
I mostly play coop PvE so my partner essentially be a teammate.
I'd encourage them to catch but not force it on them as I know this game is grindy and takes time getting used to.

It would completely depend on the type of game we were playing. If we are on a team, then of course I would support her. If we are playing head to head, then I want her to come at me hard, and do everything she can to win. I will do the same in return. That's the only way to play.

Obviously, I wouldn't go at her hard if she was brand new to the game - I'm going to assume this is a game we're both familiar with.
