At my job for instance, cell phones are not supposed to be out while on the floor for safety reasons and also well because you getting paid to work not be on your phone. But now people just using smart watches, and I keep thinking they need to ban those as well, at least at my jobš¤·āāļø
Depends on the job.
Safety hazard. There are many jobs- particularly when working with machinery- where jewelry of ANY kind is forbidden due to the potential for damage to the machines and harm to the operators. Old guillotine cutters, for example, require the operator to have both hands pushing two separate activation controls, with both far away from the cutter, etc. You wouldn't want a bracket/watch/necklace/ etc to catch on the start button of one of these things! I worked in an art shop back in the dark ages. We didn't use glue or rubber cement to glue the art elements on our boards. We ran the artwork through a waxer which delivered a thin film of tacky, liquid wax on the back of the artwork. One gal there with particularly long hair actually managed to get her hair wound around the feed roller, pulling her hair (and head) into the waxer bed! Two of us dove for the emergency switch which was located on the back of the machine. Hopefully, the unit was redesigned soon after that happened. (Now, typesetting is done using computer graphics so that is no longer a problem.)
Production slowdown. If you are watching your watch, odds are you aren't watching your job, unless maybe you are a watch tester.
Most Helpful Opinions
There are some jobs where smartwatches and cell phones are not allowed, because they are always listening.
If you are in a professional industry where attention to detail is essential; you should have neither of these on your person. If you are in a fitness related industry, then you would be wearing a smartwatch to promote how it can be used to help you in your fitness journey.
Most professional jobs should make them a do not wear the at work. The only time you would be allowed to wear one is when you are leaving work to go to the gym or on a run, so you can monitor your workout.
I once worked in the office for a foreign company that sold goods online. They had very strict rules to protect customer data. We weren't allowed to have a smartphone at work, not even when it was off. I think they were afraid that some employee would take a photo of the screen or something like that. It will probably be similar with smart watches.
Many of my employees wear Apple & Fitbit watches.
Those items seem to make them more productive, somehow.
I have no reason to deprive them of those.
In fact, I don't disallow smart phones too.

My smart watch keeps me appraised of heart conditions that I have and need to be aware of. For many people they keep track of other medical conditions and help them avoid the problems they can cause. If you are waiting on an important call from your doctor, they can silently let you know when that call comes and you can excuse yourself from others to take that call.

if phones are needed to be banned at any workplace, then yes... smart watches should be banned as well
those are going to be even more distracting as they would require more focus on them while you're supposed to doing some work I have not worn a wrist watch since 2006 🤷āāļø. So in my opinion it's useless. If it's distracting people from doing their jobs? It's up to the company. Example! I work at a truck factory (transmission sector) where time is money, so workers/assemblers listen to music while working but they are not allowed to use ear piece on both ears, one only.
Well if phones arenāt allowed I suppose smart watches shouldnāt be either.
Yes, they should ban Smartwatches, since they are a distraction from a job.
It depends on the job and the person.
When I'm focused, no phone or watch distracts me. But I fortunately work from home, so no one really cares what I do as long as my job is done well. When a device becomes a distraction, especially in a safety-related job, it should be banned. But not all jobs fall into that category.
Not supposed to have cell phones out on the floor, but some do have Smart Watches
Do me it depends on the job. What type of work do you do?
It really depends on the job. Even for cell phones. When I go to work, I have an MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) for most of my work accounts so I need my phone to even access my work!
I allow them in the office. I also allow personal calls and browsing (PG-13 or lower) as long as everything is handled.
Personally I don't use one but i have seen people get fired for using the company Wi-Fi to get a signal which tracks your every move
The sponge's middle name is BAN haha well i guess that you're right because a smart watch is similar to a cell phone but on a smaller size 😁
damn old people making life worse for no reason. they need to ban your annoying ass.
Why are cell phones not allowed? Like how is that for safety? I donāt understand why phones canāt be on your person but just turned off
Do you mean on the job, or "on the job"?
Simples...
Depends on the job
