#Scenario Do you feel she did the right thing? What should she have done differently?

I think she did the best she could... It's easy to judge others, but try putting yourself in that situation... There are a 1000 things/fears/protocols running through your brain... everyone is not as courageous and fearless as you to not consider the risks and don't care about our own lives ;)
I did put myself in that situation earlier this month when i made the scenario. All im saying is that she wasted a lot of time
Hmmm true she did waste time... She was probably scared and didn't handle the stressful situation well... I'd suggest her to look at different career paths... Somewhere where she doesn't have to think n act very quickly... Lives can be lost in a matter of seconds...
Well, that's TV, so... I think in real life, she would have found a way to get the woman out. tbh, you have to call for backup first, in case, you yourself get pulled under. I actually took a training on saving someone from a car underwater, or what to do if you're in a car underwater (roll down windows, hold breath, watch the direction of the bubbles). Second, it's dangerous to try to save someone from a moving car, you can get pulled under fast, due to the moving of the vehicle, and then you're of no use, and dead. On the last point, the passengers, I 'think' they said should open a window and start following the directions of the bubbles but training said, it's easy to get disoriented and quickly. Sadly, she may have opted to save one life because she knew she couldn't hold her breath for long enough or would need backup for strength to get the woman unstuck. Were it 'me', I would have tried much harder to get the woman loose but maybe she thought she could have held her breath longer, I don't know.
This makes more sense now. Thank you for explaining
No she did not do the right thing. She should’ve gotten out the car immediately instead of wasting time calling for backup.
My thing is, call for backup but still move. She stood on the bridge waiting on someone to answer the phone. After she reached out to them, she still stood on the bridge giving the car time to fully sink because she wanted to see if anyone would swim up. When they didn't swim up, she ran down three flights of stairs. Then stood at the riverside and slowly undressed. That shit annoyed
Thats what made me so mad. Then she acted surprised that the lady died later on
Call the situation in as fast as possible take off things that will weigh you down and then jump in right away. Should take less than a minute I'd say. In some situations you can skip the calling in too.
Right but she kept wasting time pike they were chillin at the beach

In hindsight she could have assessed the situation underwater better and rescued the person first that was most likely to survive. The rapist was in worse condition than the woman.
Exactly
Yes usually chicago fire wouldve showed up had it been a crossover but they left her hangin
I disagree. Severide couldve saved them, the woman couldve then died from screaming underwater, and then hailey could discover that the living man is a criminal. Same
Story but smarter writing. Even chicago fire goes and searches for what caused an accident.
I like your version. Have you considered writing scripts?
I hate in cops shows how plain clothed detectives track down a suspect and yell at them to freeze from 25 feet away away which inadvertently leads to a time-consuming chase when they could have walked right up to him and collared him without incident.
I like to critique films/shows and wouldve absolutely loved helping edit some of the scripts. But i didn't major in film so yea, no luck there. And yes like why say freeze from afar. Get close and while their hands are empty. When they scream from Afar, even the person runs or pulls out a weapon and shoots. I also hate on Chicago PD how they know once and then kick peoples doors in. Like wow what if im using the bathroom. Plus, the cops on that show do not care about any of their informants lives
Like the one with Julian McMahon? But nah i only watch chicago pd/fire, Law & order organized crime and hawaii five o
Yea but i bought a lot of five o on dvd so i rewatch
Even though ti got cancelled, i recommed Stalker. And it was good and shouldn't have been cancelled. 911 is also good. Watchmen the show was good as well. And dont forget Monk
Nah i only have cable tv
Lol i prefer cable
She saved someone, which is good! She didn't know who was good and who was bad, did she? Remember the delay was scripted by the writers to cause the exact response you're giving.
The delay is the main part that irks me. I dont even care who she saved. I just care about the order in which she did it and why the writers had her waste time
I'd say in such a situation there will always be someone left unsaved. Since the cop doesn't know who's in the car and she's alone, she can only choose one to save. I wouldn't blame her for the choice she made.
she's blaming herself. I dont blame her for who she saved but i blame her for wasting so much time taking 2mins+ to do everything
Its the fact she waited forever to save them. The car was on top of water a good minute and she just stood on the bridge for like 2-3 mins when she couldve been in the water helping. Im glad the people of Chicago Fire are smarter. They jump in instantly
okay, there are two people in the car under water. One is conscious and the other unconscious. First make sure the conscious one can get out (check with them) then help the unconscious one get out (pull them up if you have to).
Yea i was shocked she went for the unconscious guy first
She didn't even know he was a criminal tho
I watched this. It was a real no win scenario. She had no way of knowing that the driver was a bank robber and car jacker.
Outside of knowing that, she wasted time waiting to even jump in the water
No way she could have known , and if I were in that situation I would have saved the first person I came to.
Im not mad about who she saved. Im annoyed by how much time the writers had her waste by letting people drown before making a move to save them
Damn what happened in your wreck? I think she did her best, probably. Didn't see the episode but from what you said, I don't think it's a fuck up.
I think she wasted a lot of time inbetween. All those “2 minutes” were unnecessary. Its like she took an elevator 50 floors up before assisting them
Well since it is a show, unless they gave some special attention to her realizing she could have saved the victim and it gave her some sort of lasting effect or reason, it could have just been a filler 2 mins and they didn't have anything to fill the gap. It could have been an editing thing. Time stops in movies and shows all the time for dramatic, "OMG I can't believe all this is happening" or the "I love so much, now go save the world tiger" scenes.
Nah, she didn't wasted her time at all... being good for no reason is true good
I didn't say she wasted her time. She wasted time in general by standing there letting the car sink and standing there giving cpr and so on
I mean its winter in Chicago so that could be it but I don't know
she tried to do right and just should have been quicker
Thats the only prob i have is that she didn't make moves soon enough and that she shouldve grabbed the woman too and did cpr last
No way she could’ve known
Im not mad about who she saved. Im annoyed by how much time the writers had her waste by letting people drown before making a move to save them
