Here is Sunday's question (#1) ... Name three (3) countries that start with F.

The answer will appear tomorrow (Monday).

Please don't cheat by looking them up first.

The correct answer is France, Finland and Fiji, and that's all there are. Some guessed a few others but...

Faroe Islands is not a country, it's part of Denmark, and French Guyana and French Polynesia are not countries, they're actually part of France, each an overseas department, and "FUN FACT" each of these three are actually part of the European Union.

Some people are very creative, using Spanish Filipinas for The Philippines and using fictional countries. Bottom line... there are three, and only three, English names of countries that start with "F".

I knew of France and Finland, but couldn’t guess the third. Seen the French Guyana and thought “yeah! That’s smart,” but then I realized french Guyana really didn’t count because it was taken or governed by France at a time, having the ‘French’ in the name. It was a derivative of France, so to me it didn’t count. Then you mentioned it more specifically, as a territory, and I had to agree. Still a great guess though, from others, and still legitimate countries, with great people within them today.

I must say! Watching the Olympics when they are on is very interesting, specially the opening ceremony where they introduce the countries. So! Faroe islands, French Guiana and and Falkland islands. Saying Finland, France and Fiji is easy and obvious.

Actually I was gonna say French Guyana too, but then I remembered an old movie with Steve McQueen, in which he commits a crime in France and is sentenced and is sentenced to life imprisonment in French Guiana and he tries to escape from there

Faroe Island is a country, with legislative and governing powers under the old Kingdom of Denmark. Just like the Falkland Islands though under the UK, is a country in it's own right. French also gave Polynesia and their others independence after the war.

@lpoots I understand your argument, but the Faroe Islands have no direct representation in the United Nations (they are represented by Denmark, of which they are a part), and being recognized by FIFA doesn't make you a country. Puerto Rico is recognized by FIFA and the Olympics, but Puerto Rico is not a country, it's a United States territory.
