American Airlines has been the least crap. I phrase it that way deliberately because the US air carriers are basically in a race to the bottom. For international flights though, you can likely do better.
American Eagle (which is actually several smaller airlines operating under the AE name) is very inconsistent, sometimes just fine but other times disastrous. Most of the flights I've been on with them were operated by Mesa Airlines.
Southwest is pretty mediocre overall. There used to be some advantages to flying with them due to how some of their internal logistics and financing were set up but not so much anymore.
Delta is okay for international and they offer some oddball destinations especially in Africa that other US carriers dont go to, but they've definitely fallen behind domestically.
They are all thd same. It's people that is the problem. Everytime I fly some asshole is starting shit. Whatever it is about this country there's always 1 out of 300 people that just can't peacefully check in to fly, board the plane, sit down for take off, treat other passengers and flight staff respect without some problems. Karen, jamal, Ken, latesha y'all need to shut up, sit down or get off
https://youtu.be/B-c2dNn9Cx8I fly maybe 2-3 times a year. I haven’t had any issues with any airlines as a passenger. I like Southwest, but don’t dislike any passenger airline.
When it comes to air freight and air cargo, I avoid Delta. Just too many bad experiences and headaches using them.
Southwest is affordable and though not luxurious, I've always had good luck with customer service (credit, rescheduling, etc). A good amount of flight options.

There is a reason that Americans take our cars on long road trips... our airlines suck.
I've had good service with Alaska Airlines and Jet Blue. Southwest Airlines typically has the fewest layovers, while every United flight makes a mandatory stop in Newark or Houston.
Good luck and enjoy your trip.
Delta Airlines hasn’t had any issues with me so far. Also, a quick search on Google will say that Delta is indeed #1 or at least top three best airlines to fly with
As for the worst? I don’t know, nothing really stands out as being too bad.
Years ago I would have said the best are American Airlines and Delta. Now, none. Currently I think in terms of least bad. Least bad in my opinion are Southwest and American.
Hands down Alaska Airlines or Delta. Southwest wasn’t bad last time I used them but it’s been over a decade. United and American have been a substandard if not outright bad experience every time I’ve flown with them.
I believe it’s delta that has the special pressurized cabin for pets in cargo. They all should have this or not fly living things.
REALLY? you just asked which is Best... but don't say the name? hmmmm... ***** is the best, I always choose ***** whenever I fly anywhere, if ****** doesn't have flights to where I want to go... I don't fly, I travel by ****** or I will drive my 2021 ***** automobile, because it's the best car around
We have had good luck with southwest, but we haven't traveled since the end of 19 because of the vid.
Not sure how any airlines are now.
I usually fly Delta. Always been a pretty good experience, no major Delta-specific problems.
I fly VERY infrequently now so I have no helpful opinion.
