1. Why?
2. What should the cop have done instead? Just let her kill someone?

Because she was attacking with a knife, doesn't mean that the knife isn't a dangerous weapon. I just had to put that in here before I forgot about it.
Justified? Maybe it is the right word. I don't like it, and I don't want to use it, but it might be the right word.
When I see this situation, I can't get my head around what the girl was thinking. The closest I can think is that teenagers I've known through my life seem to think that when they're angry they can do what they want as though it's a get out of trouble card.
She was angry because people were at her house causing trouble and trying to fight her, or her family? Was there mention of a grandmother? Damn, I'd be enraged too.
If it was me, I'd call 911. I'd be throwing hands, or doing I had to do to protect my family until the police arrived. If they stopped their aggressive actions when the police arrived, I'd hope that I'd have the sense to stop too.
If the cop had just arrived, and I knocked on person down, and then charged at another with a knife... What would the cop think? I'd probably be shot too. I would have told you that even if we weren't talking about this story.
What did the cop know? A woman called 911. People were attacking? There was a knife?
Then he arrives, and before he has time to get control of the situation he see's a man kicking a woman in the head when she's on the ground. He see's a girl charging another with knife with the intent to stab her.
He's yelling "get down! get down!"
He's only about 10 seconds into this situation.
We can't assume that he knows the age of the girl with the knife. Even if he did, he STILL can't allow her to stab another person. The woman in pink was just standing there.
I'm sorry. It's a nightmare situation. It's ugly, but the cold hard truth is, the officer didn't have time to think. Even if he did, he didn't have a choice. He HAD to stop her from stabbing the other woman. It's the reason his job exists.
100%. If you're lunging at someone with a knife in the presence of armed police (especially if you're low IQ enough to believe the brainwashing of the mainstream media that being black in America makes you a shooting range target for all those evil cops out there), then 100% deserve to get shot. Possibly, maybe not killed, but Makhia Bryant is a Darwin Awards winner for sure, and I don't give a single baby mouse sh*t what race she was, as if that matters.
Remember when black people were getting shot and highlighted and they weren't straight-up criminals like this hood rat, Brionna Taylor, and one piece of trash who got shot last week? Are people so desperate for victim points they're making criminals and the lowlifes of society martyrs now? (Don't answer that; we already know the answer.)
Now I await for some retard to justify why a knife wielding hood rat attacking someone with a knife in police presence (too far for a stun gun to work) didn't deserve to get shot... The mental gymnastics ought to be pretty interesting to comprehend.
After looking at the video, I do think if there was a situation where shooting would be an option, this was it. Would a taser be better? Yes, she’s a child. It should not take lethal effort to stop a child. Then again, he appeared to be too far and multiple medical and other professionals did say a taser may not have been enough and shooting not in the big central area could miss or potentially kill someone else.
NOW I do not think that she SHOULD have died. This is just a situation where I understand how this death came to be. She called the police and was a minor I do not think she should be dead today at all. I also just think this was one of mant ways it could have played out and it’s an understandable way. She was acting as a threat to someone else and the police have to respond to that. I think he responded appropriately but I’m also just not sure what the alternative would be.
In my mind, I was thinking he could have aimed for the buttock or shoulder or leg or just somewhere non lethal to stop her but not kill her. But from his distance that could be difficult and dangerous if he missed and shot the other girl which would be bad too.
It’s a very tragic situation that shouldn’t be taken lightly. I think it’s justified but police need a lot more work dealing with people in crisis. That is their whole job and to be honest if they cannot help a girl with a knife who is on edge because she got jumped, they should not be handling any crimes. I think there were other ways this could’ve gone.
Why don't you golliwogs understand how tazers work?
cause ELECTRICITY GO ZAPP ZAPP
When you men get an education feel free to talk to me 💗
Says the one crying and begging to know why they’re unattractive HAHAHAHAHAHAH ❤️❤️❤️
@AmericanASheck yes I get insecure at times I’m a 19 year old black woman lol. But anyways I wonder how awful your parents must’ve been to raise such a hateful person. And I wonder how sad you are. I would be too if I were you but I do feel bad for you. It gets better baby you just wait 🥺💗
SHUT UP you're PATHETIC LMFAO
@AmericanASheck it’s okay honey. It’s hard to accept that your life is shitty. But again this too shall pass. It won’t be like this forever. Hopefully you’ll grow the fuck up and be a good person and defy your crappy parents
who raised you so terribly 🥺💗
why you typing novels. No ones reading them. Go ask the internet why you’re ugly some more BAHHAHAHAHAHA
I agree that non-leathal force is the ideal outcome, but the police are trained to shoot center of mass. I. e. the largest target. Most regular police aren't expert marksmen, especially when they are in the middle of chaos. Some one with a rifle and a scope, laying prone and not in the thick of it could possibly have made a non-leathal shot. I love your response.
I don’t remember asking boomer
Go ask why online dating is so exhausting you sad lonely fucking ugly boomer LMFAO
Literally look like you offer to help little girls try on swim suits LMFAO
I’m immature but you’re 50 talking about masturbating to cartoons lol. You’re a joke boomer.
go get that dating coach you were talking about creepy pedophile.
“How am I a pedophile”
The guy who randomly assumes things about people questions a random assumption made about him? You’re literally killing my brain cells. Enjoy being single you old fuck.
Get your malformed fucked up nose fixed and find the other half of your lips and maybe the fat grannies you meet on boomersMeet will let you sick your soft cock in their loose hairy pussies.
If you don't want a negative reaction, don't be such a dick to people who are expressing their opinion. Especially opinions that are intelligent and well thought out. You're a troll. I hope there is more to you than that. I suspect you're much younger than 23. If you aren't, you're just sad.
I don’t give a fuck about your reaction boomer, you’re irrelevant
yeah, but I’m not the ugly fat 50 year old asking strangers why women on dating sites don’t want me.
Pro tip, you look like a pedophile. Maybe that’s why lmfao.
Thanks ! @jerdanro for your insight. I think just for the black community it’s exhausting to see so many black people killed on camera. Literal footage of people that look like us and our families murdered by police. We don’t see that with white people. We feel targeted. And so even if her death is justified, it’s horrific and traumatic to see a girl that’s only 16 shot to death like that. That’s it her life is over. And then you have white people thinking of anything they can. ANYTHING to paint her as bad or deserving of it. It’s so painful and it’s angering. I get why the cop did it and think he’s justified. But there has to be a way for black people to stop getting killed 3.5x more than everyone else...
@AmericanASheck this is just pathetic. Coming at random people online all day literally looks like it’s all you do. This is so sad I can’t believe this is what your life consists of. No job? Volunteer work? Fucking friends or family? You just stick around replying bullshit to people like your opinion matters anyway. Give it a rest you're embarrassing yourself. We get it your parents were terrible and you’ve never touched a woman. You want us to feel your pain. Get up and work out or something. Find a purpose. You’re such an incel it hurts ME and i don’t give a fuck about incels. Shut your ugly ass up and get a hobby or a dog or something Jesus Christ
There are too many tragedies.. A big problem is the media. The story only goes national when it supports someone's agenda. That same week a 13 year old black girl was stabbed to death in Ohio and it was only a local story, because that little girl couldn't be used as a political pawn. I think that is horrible.
ironic, 2 giant shit talkers both lonely receiving no attention from the opposite sex. coincidence? NOPE. Ugly losers. Talk amongst yourselves you’re both irrelevant. Maybe you can fuck this girl, maybe she likes creepy pedophile looking nerds. And maybe you like ugly black women HAAH
AHAHA lol @AmericanASheck I must’ve hit a nerve huh?🥺poor baby can dish it but can’t take it. Pleaseeeee LOL. Keep talking. It’s my entertainment. It’s not that I’m not receiving attention I get a lot guess I’m just too choosey;) I can’t imagine what it feels like to be you. Never any ones first choice.
Lonely. So alone you probably fuck your computer since ur on it so much. The only women u see are the ones in porn. Poor baby I can imagine how angry I’d be to look like or be seen with you💗
I’m glad the fact that you can’t get male attention is entertainment to you. Jerandros also in your boat. Maybe you can get some of his attention <3
the fact that he can’t find a woman after divorce just further proves his wife left him LMFAO
Probably wanted a guy who’s nose doesn’t look like a broken elbow
I guess you’re whole “jerkoff to cartoons” comment must suggest a lot about you as well? Maybe you’re a pedophile? Who knows, you look like one surely. Not surprised you’re divorced lol.
I see your wife is a nerve ey? In which context does a man leave a woman and have trouble finding another? How’s it feel to get dumped after 17 years. LMFAO
You’ve been getting clowned this entire time. You’ve said nothing of substance regarding me yet I’ve personally assaulted you again and again. You’re a little play toy boomer LOL
I’m stupid and a kid, is your entire argument, yet who’s the divorced loser on dating apps at 50 years old looking like a child predator
I'm not attacking you personally because all I know about you is that you are immature, cruel, attacking people for no other reason than to entertain yourself, and not even very good at it. You haven't hit any nerves because I don't care about you, your opinions, or your situation. Keep trying. The only feeling you've inspired in me is pity. My ex-wife is one of my best friends. We partner in raising our children. We are both educated, both own homes, and have good jobs. I have friends and interests that I pursue beyond social media and video games. You have no understanding of what it is to be a responsible adult or to make sacrifices for the people you love. Essentially, you are nothing... yet. I hope you do grow up someday and become a real person.
“You probably watch cartoon porn”
“I’m not attacking you personally”
I think dementias already started for you boomer LMFAO
trip over your insults and make more of an ass out of yourself pedo
You still alive? Wow. Left by your wife, rejected by women online, and then bullied by someone half your age, and you still have the courage to keep being humiliated.
+1 for you bud
So, what's your plan? Keep insisting that you're a winner until someone believes you? Amazing strategy. I have a picture of myself and my profile is public. You don't have a picture and your profile is locked. You are essentially posting everything anonymously. Is that a position of strength? I can only be humilliated if I think what you are saying is true. I don't. Keep charging forward little bull. You'll most likely knock youself unconscious before you escape your pen.
Ever heard the saying never bring a knife to a gun fight? Thats an example
Why u bothering arguing with that mongo for? He probably gets battered everyday at school for being an ugly wee bastart in the silver sleeve brigade and eats sweets off the ground...
@AmericanASheck you bully wee lassies cause ur some ming aye
This is a 16 year old child, who was being jumped by 4 girls. She tried doing the right thing by calling the police herself and I am sure she was fearing for her life against this foster family. Am I justifying the use of a knife? No. But I also can’t imagine what was going through her mind and truly feel like she was protecting herself. If she wanted to stab someone for real, she would’ve done it before she called the cops. It wasn’t until someone (the woman in the pink) came from behind the cop, pulled her hair from the back and I believe the stab was a jerk-reaction. Anyway, this situation is devastating all around. 4 shots was excessive. The foster care system needs to do more to protect these kids rather than shipping them off to live in toxic environments for the sake of saying they put a roof over the kids head.
I’ve seen you before, several times. You comment mainly on topics regarding race and find any window to make it about white oppression and to be argumentative. I’m not interested in going back and forth with you because there will be zero common ground or resolution, so I won’t waste my time.
Stalking? I promise you aren’t that interesting. Also, what’s there to prove? He shot a child 4 times while aggressive, armed adults get shown more mercy. This was a murder that did not need to happen.
Did you watch the video? She was a split second away from stabbing the girl in pink (who was holding a puppy by the way) and the cop had no choice but to shoot her. A ring camera from the neighbour had audio of her saying "I'm gonna stab you Bitch " moments before the incident.
Look at the situation logically. 1) the cops don't know her age 2) when the cops showed up he would not have known who called becuase the were a bunch of people fighting. 3) this all went down in seconds and if the cop did nothing , the girl in pink would have been stabbed and possibly died becuase that's a huge knife.
Of course I watched the video. To be fair, we don’t know what led to this girl feeling like she needed a knife. Just think about the fact that an argument over a BED escalated all the way to where it ended. Why don’t you even bother wondering what led to this? Same as you’re justifying that this cop felt the need to defend himself, I’m looking at this KID and wondering why she was being jumped by 4 girls and what conditions she was living in that made her fear for her life. What frame of mind were these other foster children in? Often times it’s unstable and angry, which Makhia probably saw! No matter how you chop this up, the cop did not need to shoot this girl. You’re telling me that out of all the things he could’ve done: shot her in the arm, leg, hell even a warning shot on the ground! 4 times in the chest immediately was necessary? I’m sorry but I cannot see the logic in that. But I’m sure you will continue to defend this cop and justify murder. This did not need to happen.
1) the cop was NOT shooting to defend himself. He was shooting to protecting the girl in pink who was about to be stabbed to death.
2) you are trained to shoot centre mass because it's near impossible to shoot someone in the leg or arm because it's a much smaller moving target.
3) the cops can't give a warming shot becuase the bullet can fly anywhere and shoot a stranger.
4) the cop is acting in real time. He doesn't know the back story of anyone there. He doesn't even know who called the cops. In his mind it could have been the girl in the pink who called. You are speaking after everything went down and gathering info, days later. The police doesn't have that luxury. They are making split second decisions in real time.
5) when he arrived , to his immediate right a guy was kicking a woman in the head on the pavement. About 15 feet ahead, a girl was in swinging motion to stab someone. He has less than a sec to react and protect the person who is about to be stabbed.
6) it is not murder. If someone was about to stab you , you don't think the cops should use deadly force to stop them?
Do you think the girl in pink should have been stabbed?
Listen, I won’t get into a lengthy debate about this. Like I said, you clearly stand behind this cops actions and that’s your choice. I’m looking at the reality, which is that a 16 year old child is dead for trying to defend herself against an adult who came with multiple people to harm her. See, I could get behind your logic but it’s really hard to when I see a body cam vid of a policeman literally get stabbed in the neck by a guy and then proceed to chase him down while the maniac yelled “I have a knife!”, and he was apprehended! Four shots to this child’s chest was excessive, he aimed to kill, not apprehend and this case is just devastating all around.
Again. The cop was protecting the girl in pink who was about to be stabbed most likely to death. I know for sure, if you were about to be stabbed and the cop shot that person you'll be thankful.
Ask yourself one question: if you were about to be stabbed, and potentially die from it, would you want a cop a dozen or two feet away from you stop first and think, "Gee, am I racist if I shoot this person?"
If you seriously think you can do the job of trained professionals better than you can, then why don't you do their job for them, then? Or replace the person in the pink shirt the next time a fight breaks out and someone pulls a deadly weapon out on you.
No ones talking about race here, I’m talking about the nature of this situation and regardless of what anyone says, I feel like the situation could’ve been de-escalated. I get that he had a small window to react but this is what they’re trained for. One google search shows cops in these sort of situations that handled it way differently than this man. The assailant was apprehended and put in jail. I have nothing against cops in general or the work they do, so spare me all the “if you can do the job better” crap. If i had any interest in those professions then that’s where I’d be. Anyway, I’m through with this topic. As I’ve said twice already, it’s totally fine if people side with the cop in this case, I’m going to feel how I feel and that’s just the end of it. Agree to disagree, so go on about your business and bother someone else.
It is tragic. The cop had no way of knowing what transpired before he arrived. As for 4 shots being excessive, once you choose to use deadly force, you don't stop until the threat is over. No one with fire arms training is taught to shoot for arms and legs. It's not like in the movies. If you shoot, you shoot at the largest target, center of mass. Regardless, this was a tragedy, but I don't believe race had anything to do with the cops actions.

I can maybe chalk this one up to terrible timing, the cop had no time to sort things out, find out who was who, etc, he just saw a knife wielded and shot the person holding it. But my biggest question that I still haven’t gotten an answer to it that, as of earlier this month, Ohio is a “stand your ground” law state. Given that the other women showed up to instigate a fight with Bryant at the property she lives at, I’m not sure how that all works. And when your brain is in “fight or flight” mode as any of us would be in a violent situation, I know I personally wouldn’t even hear that a cop had showed up, let alone process any commands they attempted to give me. But stand your ground laws as I understand them allow you to apply lethal force to an attacker, so I’m really not sure about this one. I think there are possible racial components to this due to subconscious perception, but I don’t even want to get into that here and muddy the water, I’d rather just focus on the “stand your ground” aspect, because no one has answered that for me yet. She legally had no duty to retreat and is allowed to apply lethal force, as I understand it. So I don’t know why this is different from George Zimmerman, who harassed an unarmed teenager resulting in a physical altercation, or that Kyle Rittenhouse kid who drove across state lines, not even on his property, and defended himself against his attackers. I’d love that to be cleared up but when I’ve mentioned it I’ve been ignored or the question was dodged.
Oh, and just one correction to your question details, I believe it was Bryant herself who called the police to report multiple adult women who showed up to their home to instigate a fight.
“We got these grown girls over here trying to fight us. Trying to stab us. Trying to put their hands on our grandma! Get here now!”, and according to Bryant’s family, Bryant herself made the call.
They are gonna snwer you because that doesn't fit their narrative Stevie.
@ShaTTeredMasterpeace lmao, it’s been like three or four questions now. I’m out here like “Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?” 🙄🤦♂️ My personal experiences and what I’ve witnessed over the course of my life don’t really encourage me to side with police, and I’m trying SO hard to approach this from the middle so I can foster a rational discussion, trying leave race out of it for the moment so no one gets too hot or defensive over it, just explore this in a cop vs civilian vacuum... still nothing, lmao. Everyone just hits the Heisman pose on the stand your ground aspect😒
https://youtu.be/heaNukZkEMg
Lmaooo. I mean really. You can hear a pin drop. I'm looking for all my black on black crime lovers to tell me something since they know all the facts and stats but... nothing
@ShaTTeredMasterpeace A day later, still getting crickets on this 🦗 I’ll give it til morning, then I’m gonna have to call this one dodged too lmfao
Lmao don't hold your breath
Anyone who says the shooting is not justified does not know anything about police training. There's no question that it was. Ma'Khia Bryant went after a defenseless girl with a knife and was about to stab her. The shooting is absolutely justified. It's tragic she died, but she died because of her own actions. If the officer hadn't shot her, the other girl would have either been seriously injured or killed. There is no question deadly force was justified. The officer saved a girl from either being seriously injured or worse, dead.
My degree is in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and one of the classes you must take is called Police Systems and Practices. In that class, and in other classes, I learned when deadly force should be used, and there is no question about it, the use of deadly force here was justified to prevent someone from either being seriously wounded or dead.
The only I would have done differently in that situation is I would have said "Drop the knife or I will shoot!" The officer didn't have much choice but to shoot. He very likely prevented a murder.
Justified, because the police officer are protecting the other girl who are being attacked. Sure there might be option of using taser but taser doesn’t mean 100% success since some person can take up to several shot to be put down. Not to mention even is she can be take down by single shot it doesn’t mean she just suddenly stand still like stone. Her body or arm might still move that can hurt the other person.
The other option that people recommend is tackling her down. That still need some second before the police officer can touch her for take down but by that time the other victim might be already receive slashes. Not to mention she is holding a knife aiming at other people live which mean she are intending for a kill. Play stupid game win stupid prize.
The distance between those two are to damn near. Don’t think warning shot or command from a police office will do a thing. The other option are shooting her leg but then again. Shooting moving leg are much more harder that huge body target. All that happened second or milliseconds. Take gamble on shooting leg but there a chance the shot missed and the girl died or just shoot her taking down her 100% who are holding knife.
Police are trained to meet lethal force, whether to themselves or others, with lethal force. They are trained not to meet lethal force with less than lethal force. The goal is to neutralize the threat. The officer had no other choice. He couldn't just allow someone to be stabbed right in front of him. He had no idea of what had unfolded before he got there.
It's sad that a life was lost, but the officer did nothing wrong.
In this case... probably yes. I’ve certainly been critical of police when people of color are killed. Too often the victim is either unarmed or running away and it wasn’t justified and you have no choice but to assume a racial motive. We’ve all seen some horrendous video footage over the past few years. If you look at that picture though, the cop literally had seconds before being confronted with this. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume the woman in pink is under threat of death or great bodily harm. This is one case where I think cooler heads should prevail. I’m saddened that this happened to a beautiful 16-year old girl but she was the aggressor here and was using a deadly weapon. I just don’t see a jury deciding this was a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. The video is going to support the police narrative.
Yeah I think it was. The cop had no further context. He was just told to go there because of someone with a knife, he arrives and sees someone with a knife trying to stab someone.
Tragic? Yes.
Justified? Yes.
I am black. I support Black LIves Matter. I work on BLM issues and racial justice as an activist in my community.
This shooting was justified. The cop needs an award for saving a black woman's life.
We as black people need to take accountability and teach our children appropriate conduct with officers. When I was a child we had the "talk" where we were taught not to resist arrest. Its basic. These shootings are happening because people are acting a fool. Some shootings are not justified but THEY put themselves in that situation. Your actions increase risk and the life and death possiblity.
Nope. Because I've seen the cops take down people with knives aimed at THEM without killing them. A child did not need to be shot 4 times in the chest. Not when there are tasers. Not when she has arms and legs and other body parts that could've taken a bullet and not killed her. Not when she was the one that called because ADULTS were trying to jump her. Nope. She was failed by everyone around her and when she called for help, she was failed by them too.
Absolutely, just look at the photo. She's about 500 milliseconds from stabbing that woman in the jugular and killing her. Officers have an obligation to protect the innocent and he couldn't flip a coin by using a taser that's only 50% effective and even if it worked, it would've been too late. So he fired his service pistol and eliminated the threat, saving her life and God knows how many more lives he saved because y'all know she wasn't gonna stop. Anyone to attacks two people with a knife right in front of an officer isn't going to stop after killing one with the stab that you see coming right there.
Of course. So many real incidents of unjustified violence by police and the "activists" pick this one because they want the conflict, not answers. They want to justify their sick racial hatreds, not make things better.
Well said
sadly, I think MOST cases tend to be this way
I think this cop should pay with their life! Why? Simple. If more cops are hurt doing their job less people will be cops and I wanna see trash like this burn. It’s the shit cities that will burn. My small town treats their cops with respect and they get it back. We won’t have a black shooting until these fuckers flee from failing cities and come here...
In my opinion the officer was 100% justified and he couldn't have done better if he was able to pass time a quarter-of-a-second at a time.
Just like the riots this summer, people want an excuse to steal stuff and burn buildings. However, it will stop at some time, I just don't know how it's going to happen.
The Captain of the officer released the body-cam video tape to the public. If you watch the entire video, watch what is happening in other parts of the video tape.
Do you see the young girl getting kicked in the head by another dude?
Trust me, nobody reading these boards could ever do better in anyway.
It sucks that anyone has to die before their natural time, however this girl tried to stab another girl to death. The officer was completely justified by the action of this dumb ass, stupid as hell, young girl. Being there must have been crazy and all we see is one video from the prospective of one person. All the credit in the world to this cop!!
100% justified.
In fact, the situation is so ridiculously cut and dry that other cops on the outside looking in have pointed out how it would be an inappropriate example to use for police training because it's rarely such an easy call.
The best argument that could be made against it, would be that the angle of the shot would've risked hitting and killing the would-be stabbing victim.
While it is possible a tazer would have been a better option, I understand that in fight or flight life and death situations there is no black and white answer.
In the end, a police officer shot someone who had committed assault with a deadly weapon, and was believed to be about to commit battery or attempted murder. I feel like there is little more to consider in this scenario, the officer did their job.
The officer arrives, sees her assault one person then lunge at a second with a knife in her hand. He had no choice but to act. Not sure if any non lethal options would have stopped her. The young woman in pink would likely be dead if the officer hadn't acted how he did
I think it’s not justified she was a kid in panic being attacked by adults children do not have logical reasoning and cops are trained to take down people with knives and have tasers he had multiple nonleathal options and chose to kill a child
If you are pro life the man thing y’all try to say is abortion is meant to kill black children and obviously so are the cops these days
This little girl was killed simply due to the fact that black people are seen as more dangerous by cops and other racist
If you think it’s justified your racist
No argument needed
You're an idiot. So all the people that are black and see it as justified, sad and terrible, but justified are racist against blacks or 16 year old girls or just girls period. What are they being racist about or to who are they racist against just because they have a different opinion than yours. When I was a kid I got into a fight with a grown man and he was huge at least twice if not three times my size plus I was in it by myself and heavily outnumbered and I stabbed him the police got there so fast that as I tried to get away they hit me with their car and never did it enter my mind that they used excessive force. I just tried to kill that man. I know when you're in that situation and now feeling like you're fighting for your life and your adrenaline is going so hard you're completely focused on one thing. Not to mention how your fear turns to being pissed off. When they rolled up on me they didn't see the dude beat up my friend then jump on me while I'm surrounded by his homeboys all they saw was me getting him a couple times then trying to get away and one of his homeboys trying to chase me and I turned to get him too. The next thing I knew I'm on the ground in cuffs with to cops on top of me. I was a kid and even though I don't like cops they were justified and I'm sure if it wasn't for the fact they were in their car they probably would of shot to kill and nobody would of questioned it. You're just trying to act like whites are the problem and they're all evil. You're just stirring the pot trying to create anarchy
And to be clear that was aimed at Ouidhaze
@broken_heart_at_48 what black people see it justified direct me too them
Read all the posts there's actually several. I can't stand the police but I don't think this was a race issue. I also think that yes theirs racism everywhere but with the police it's more than that it's if you aren't one of them or family of a cop you're a bug to them you're less than them where I grew up the cops didn't cut us white boys no slack I had several run ins with the cops when I was young and they didn't hesitate to beat my ass while I was already cuffed up even as a minor. I'm going to leave this one alone because I feel it's disrespectful to the family for a bunch of random people to be arguing about this my apologies to the family its a terrible loss
Unless you wanted the other girl dead, then yes.
And since the other girl didn't seem to be as a delinquent as that other one was, it's been an act of saving a person to eliminate a parasite. Two benefits in one simple pull of the trigger.
Give a medal to that man.
Nope , he could've tazed her or tackled her or pointed a gun and said drop the weapon or we’ll shoot. She would have dropped it. If she would have charged at him with the nice then yea different story
No, she wouldn't have dropped it. The police were already on the scene and she was still trying to stab the other chick. She wanted to kill her THAT BADLY. That's why she still went after her even in the presence of law enforcement witnesses who would have testified in her murder trial.
And the police didn't have time to give verbal commands. Because she was literally swinging the knife THAT VERY SECOND.
And they weren't close enough to taze her.
Don't talk stupid
“If she would have charged at him with a knife it would have been a different story”
Kind of how she charged at the other woman with a knife?
Man some people really are just really stupid on here haha
@AmericanASheck yes like you bitch , white dude With a gun who shoots a protester seems to be alive and well
Oh no, offended retard resorts to personal attacks to prove her point. What a shocker! Can’t believe people as dumb as you can vote hahaha
@AmericanASheck I’d love for you to say that to my face :)
@AmericanASheck you are the problem with America. A dumbass with no balls who talks shit on the internet probably a pussy irl it’s okay I’d be mad too if I was you
you still personally attacking me? I’m waiting for you to validate your claim but it seems all you know how to do is cry and stomp your feet like a child 😂
you’re IQ is obviously very low haha
@AmericanASheck okay please explain to me why you think she should have died , and be honest just say you’re racist:) I’ve seen school shooters who have guns get arrested and treated with more humanity than this. If she was white trust me she wouldn’t have been shot.
Cry more butthurt idiot.
@AmericanASheck and I’m the idiot lol delusional
NO SHE shouldn't HAVE DIED FOR ATTEMPTING TO STAB SOMEONE THATS JUST RACIST. you’re literally the absolute utter definition of brain damaged.
covid taking innocent lives and leaving people like you. Sad. Anyway enjoy you’re sad existence of entitlement. And harassing and labeling everyone who disagrees with you as racist. Done arguing with someone as mentally challenged as you. Cya :)
@AmericanASheck. We've already established that you're a troll and an asshole. Knock it off. @Hinata222 Wouldn't just as many people fault the cop if the other girl had been stabbed? It's easy enough for us to Monday morning quarterback the situation, but he was in the middle of it. It was a terrible tragedy. I'm also pretty sure this cop would have done the same thing if it was white on white or white on black. The potential victim's safety takes priority over the perpetrator's
Just, she was about the stab another girl, and probably would have killed her or missed her up had the police not stepped in and saved the other girls life.. If she was angry enough to stab somebody with the police there then she would have probably stabbed the girl to death.. It was definitely justified.. Also can we talk about how the dad kicked one of the girls head in..
Why the hell are you gatekeeping this event?
Also, are you so small minded and illiterate that you don't understand the concept of a "warning shot" let alone a flesh wound?
By the officers own bodycam footage he saunters into the situation like he's collecting donuts. Not, attending a potential murder scene.
First, police officers are prohibited from firing 'warning shots' as bullets randomly fired into the air eventually fall to earth and may strike unintended targets, like people (duh).
Secondly, officers are trained to shoot at center mass and shoot until the threat is neutralized.
Yes its justified, she attempted to kill someone. People only empathize with her because she is a 16 year old girl, like 16 is an innocent number. I've had my fair share of fights, i've been also jumped multiple times, even tho i always had a pocket knife on me just in case i never felt the need to actually pull it out and stab someone. I think that she knew what she was doing, im not buying into that " sweet innocent " crap that the media talks about one bit.
The only problem people have with this scenario is the officer's skin color. I've seen people whine and cry about cops using tasers, rubber bullets, batons, etc, as long as the cop is white.
So the solution is to keep white cops out of black situations and black neighborhoods. Let black cops handle it.
I see your point but the whole idea is to be colorblind. Unfortunately democrats since Obama make everything about race. This does not help anyone but the democrats.
I work at a college and in the cafeteria the white kids sit on one side and the black kids sit on the other. Until this changes, nothing else will ever change.
Yes, I think the officer was justified. But it’s sad that he had to make that split second choice.
@The_Sal exactly
Oh, poor policeman, I bet he was real scared! How about protecting the girl from her assailants without her having to resort to knives? How about controlling a suspect without smashing his airpipe with your knee? These fucking cops think they're above the laws of men and that shouldn't be accepted by people who aren't fucking morons.
You didn't watch the video?
1. Legally and in reality a knife is a deadly weapon, and a police officer going into a scene with deadly weapons is allowed to go straight to handgun instead of less lethal. So yes he is morally and legally justified in shooting.
2. He should have let her knife the girl. Per twitter, stabbings are part of black culture, why should White people interfere?
I don't think the officer had any other options. It's tragic and sad she died.
Absolutely justified.
As a police officer you are sworn an oath to protect and serve. Therefore Makhia Bryant was advancing toward another person. You must realise that the officer had just pulled up to the scene as it unfolded right in front of him.
Don't get me wrong, there are so many examples of officers committing outright murder.
I don't believe that this said example falls into my original reply.☯️
It was justified.
You are a police officer, you have to meet lethal force with lethal force. Less lethal with the same on down the use of force continuum.
What would you do if someone were trying to stab you , would you want an officer or good Samaritan to hesitate or act accordingly...
Being former military, not law enforcement, if I could have tased the suspect to stop the attack I would have, but if someone’s life was in immediate danger I would have used lethal force. it is very easy to watch a video and try to second guess or justify police actions but until you are in their shoes, in that role, with innocent lives to protect you cannot say there was no need for the suspect to be shot.
Why are the police so quick to shoot and kill this teen with a knife but apprehend mass shooters alive?
Because they usually corner the mass shooter who gives up, whilst this "child" was slashing away, in close quarter combat. That's why.
Mass shooters are met with a large team of police officers specially trained for such situations, not just some random cop sent alone to the place that he didn't think was gonna get this messy.
@Curmudgeon I’m pretty sure there’s a taser for that or a baton or pepper spray. I don’t agree with using lethal force first.
@Sargentcaptain All cops having training for all types of situations or they shouldn’t respond to the call.
Tasers are dogshit, and paper spray doesn't work that way.
www.ctinsider.com/.../...k-with-fatal-15002785.php
Cops aren't some Captain America super soldiers, you get that right?
Put yourself in the shoes of the girl this bitch nearly killed. Would you rather the cop just standing there, fidgeting with his fingers, politely asking the lunatic to put the knife down, or would you want him to keep you alive? Cause if someone is charging at me with a blade, I know which one I'm choosing.
You have no idea how dangerous a knife is in close quarters. This was not at a distance.
After all of the fuss about what the officer could have or should have done.
It would have been the best for him to stop at a donut shop on the way to the call. Then show up to do the paperwork and call the coroner!!
Instead of all of the videos, why didn’t one of those people stop the fight?
Because the onlookers were to busy recording what was happening. I've seen that before with people fighting. Its pathetic.
It was undoubtedly justified anybody who disagrees is an idiot. I bet if they were the person that was getting attacked they’d want the cop to drop them dead. It saved her life (the victim) it was effective and it was quick.
Isn't Ohio a stand your ground state. Seems like she was standing her ground.
They could rubber bullet her ass.
But I always say when you dial 911 it's usually because somebody dead or you want somebody dead.
Is it the cops fault no. It's the parents and thoose grown ass women. Fighting a 16 year old
Watch the video.
Don't care enough to. She dead nobody gonna get charged it was a clean kill.
She was a threat
I disagree we can leave it at that
Stand Your Ground is protecting yourself against an attacker. It is no longer 'SYG' when you become the aggressor. The video clearly shows that as the officer pulls up that MB becomes the aggressor in this situation.
It's sad, but she should have stayed in the house after calling the police until they arrived.
Absolutely. Saved many lives that could've been ended by her.
The officer could have used a taser, or a non-lethal round in his gun, like a rubber bullet or something. But from what I've seen, U. S. police officers seem to be paranoid children with lethal weapons, so that won't change any time soon.
Does it matter?
If the cop would not have shot - then the other girl would have gotten it.
Seeing how large the target is, it could have been better though, to shoot her in the arse.
But I wasn't there... shit happens.
No. Only a black cop would be justified in killing her in that situation.
A white cop would have been better off to just sit back and let it happen. Maybe he could just purposely shoot the car or something instead.
Perhaps not the death, an injuring or disabling shot would have sufficed, but the girl had it coming so can’t say I feel bad for her
There's no such thing as an "injuring or disabling shot" that could have prevented MaKhia's attack - already in mid-swing - which is why EVERY police department in the country, and EVERY self-defense expert trains you to shoot at center mass.
The "shoot them in the leg or arm" is pure Hollywood fiction and always has been. The officer did exactly what he was trained to do in that situation - race being irrelevant - and it was the right thing to do in that horrible situation where he only had 9 seconds to evaluate the situation and prevent a murder.
MaKhia's actions of attempted murder were her own choice. She was the one attacking when the police arrived. She and she alone is responsible for the outcome.
Have you ever tried to shoot a moving knee-sized target from 25 feet? Would you literally bet your freedom on being able to make that shot the first time? Remember that you are legally responsible for any missed shots. This might be a shock to you, but most police officers shoot their gun once or twice a year - during their yearly qualification check and perhaps once to practice for it. Police are generally NOT excellent or even "practiced" shooters - that's a tiny part of their job. (I used to be a pistol instructor, and police officers were often among the worst shooters I trained).
But even if you could somehow guarantee a hit (and you absolutely cannot!), that's not going to stop someone in mid-swing with a knife from stabbing someone or slicing their throat or belly - either of which would likely be fatal. It might keep them from walking away, but it wouldn't prevent the deadly assault, and THAT was the goal of taking those shots: to prevent the deadly assault. And it worked.
I realize that you don't have any training, but you should get some. It would be very eye-opening for you.
Of course it was justified!
The headline should have read:
"Hero Cop Saves Life of Black Woman!"
But of course the Democrats can't let truth get in the way of the phony "institutional racism" narrative.
Yes, I have watched to videos. No one would have had time to do anything else without others getting hurt. Is it regretable? Hell ya. Unavoidable? Ya if your ok with more people getting hurt first. Justifiable/justified? Yes.
Sure.
Why wouldn't a cop not shoot you if you are trying to stab people.
Common sense.
Justified.
I could go on and on trying to explain but it's not like anyone is going to listen.
Just argue amongst yourselves.
I’ve seen cops use pepper spray on Mexicans and white people. They use bullets on blacks. I’m gonna try to inquire if we can request non white cops to the scene. As a black man I don’t trust a white cops because my life depends on it.
The cop should have shot the knife out of her hand. People do this all the time on television.
love how all these people say she should have been tazed or tackled. If someone’s coming at me or someone I love with a knife they’re getting shot lol.
I think she wanted to die. Cus she saw police car and went for the kill.
thats justified in my country, and i like it that way, she tried to kill others, and i dont want my tax money paying for her meals in prison
Yeah. Even if he was someone just able to shoot her in the hand, because she's a minor they probably wouldn't have even given her any prison time and she'd be back at it again. This cop made the right call.
If I was ghe girl bieng attacked with the knife I know I would have shot and killed my attacker. So I'm not going to fault the cop for doing the same thing.
If you’re trying to hurt someone else you lose whatever consideration for your rights you would have had. I’m sure the other girl is happy she didn’t get stabbed to death.
@Ouidhaze That doesn't mean MaKhai had a right to attack her at that point.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that there was probably a lot of rage at the time. There was violence. The 911 mentioned knives? I think? Has anyone else heard that part?
It's ugly, and I hate to have to take this stance when such a young person has lost her life in this situation.
At the point when MaKhai was attacking her, she wasn't posing a threat. When the police officer arrived, the woman in pink wasn't posing a threat. Regardless of what has happened before that, when someone isn't a posing a threat then you don't have a right to attack them. You don't have the claim of self defence.
You also have to keep in mind that the officer couldn't have known who was who. The video I saw had the 911 call on it while you had the view of the officers body cam. All he would have known was there was an attack happening, and a knife involved.
When he arrived he didn't have time to know who was who, and what he saw was one person knock down someone, and then charge another with a knife.
Police are there for our protection. He did his job. He didn't like that he had to shoot someone, but he had to do it. It's an ugly situation, and I don't like it either.
When the cop arrived, they should have all stopped fighting. Why MaKhai thought it was okay to attack the woman when the cop arrived is beyond me. Who's been teaching her, and what were they teaching her?
@Ouidhaze How do you even get to a conclusion like "if you think the job of cops is killing young black people okay"?
What does that even mean?
Also, why are you even bringing race into this? Do you think it would have played out any differently if everyone involved was white?
The only difference that it would have made is that it wouldn't have made the local new papers.
@Ouidhaze
Tasers aren't reliable. They can be deadly, and they can also fail. Also, they don't always drop the target.
You're speaking from a position of someone who's had time to think about what happened, and what could have been done differently.
When a deadly weapon is involved, you don't want to use a "probably" weapon. You need a weapon that has the best chance to neutralize the threat.
This cop arrived to a scene where the first thing he saw was a man and a woman attacking people with a knife.
You also assume that he knew she was a kid, and that it makes a difference. It's tragic, and ugly but no matter your age, you don't have the right to stab people.
I also notice that you're not looking at her actions. She did all this in front of a cop, and she attacked someone who wasn't posing a threat to her. Most laws that involve self defence don't allow you to attack anyone if they're not posing a threat to you.
@Ouidhaze
Pull your head out of your ass.
Let me explain how things work in the real world. We have rules, and one of those rules is, you’re not allowed to stab people.
In the real world we have police, and part of their job is to protect. Like when he responds to a call involving a woman attacking someone with a knife.
What does he see when he pulls up?
Here’s another bit of worldly advice, we are all responsible for our own actions. If you think you can charge someone with knife in front of cop and you get shot that’s on YOU!
Nobody likes that a young girl was killed, least of all the cop!
People like you who refuse to see the world for what it is, only add to the problem. In stead of acting like people are victims because the police stop them from doing bad things.
Teach people NOT TO FUCKING STAB PEOPLE!
@Ouidhaze are you saying this was a case of self defense where she was in fear for her life and the police shot the victim?
@Ouidhaze Well, she should stop attacking people BECAUSE the police are there.
"She's not calculating things like a logical adult." You're 100% right. That's the reason for this ugly situation.
Unfortunately, that still doesn't change anything. The cop can't know that, sand even if he did, he STILL can't allow her to stab people.
Ah, let's see what some of the shitheads have to say.
Absolutely. Have a chimpout while holding a knife , you forfeit your life.
All I'm gonna say is , if someone is about to stab me , the cops have my blessing to shoot that person.
If the cop stood there and did nothing, the girl in pink might be dead and the girl with the knife in prison for many years.
Hopefully the girl in pink is a decent person worth saving.
Would you want her living next door to you? Good riddance...
Hell Yes!! Get Fuck over it.
She deserved to be Wacked , before she offed the other chick...
Jesus !!! Enough with this Crap !
The girl in the pink could of died if the officer didn’t shoot. You can see in the video she had a knife and was about to stab her.
I think the officer did the right thing.
Yes it was justified.
I'm surprised people need to even question it.
Of course it was. I find it ridiculous that a “sweet little girl” tries stabbing people with knives.
They're just kids having a good ole fashioned knife fight as kids do these days.
