Let's face it: Cosby's conviction was never actually about whether or not he ever raped anyone. It was about the fact that he publicly disavowed CRT, and embarrassed Obama. He was a political prisoner. The rape story was pursued to conviction in spite of violation of due process, because of Obama's hatred for America, and judges being corrupt.

What I am saying is coming from my experience as a corrections officer so take it or leave it. Convictions or acquittals are RARELY about whether or not someone is actually guilty. If guilt or lack of was the driving factor, judges would NEVER throw out evidence. Convictions or acquittals are about which attorney reads and explains the law better and which attorney is more convincing. Basically, it is all about following the correct procedures set by the courts. Viewing reality from this lens, Cosby's release is correct. The 5th Amendment of the U. S. Constitution protects the suspect from being forced to saying anything that might incriminate a suspect UNLESS THE SUSPECT WILLINGLY gives up that right IN THAT SPECIFIC CRIMINAL CASE. However, the 5th amendment DOES NOT APPLY to civil cases. In the civil case, Cosby was forced to make certain statements. Civil cases are supposed to be separated from criminal cases and evidence obtained in a civil case is not valid evidence for future criminal cases. However, evidence from a criminal case can be used in a civil case. This tainted his criminal trial. Nobody knows whether or not he is guilty. What matters is if the correct procedures were followed to obtain his conviction. Since the correct procedures were NOT followed, Cosby's rights were violated and therefore his conviction was vacated.
Though not in this case, they're also often about a guilty plea to get a minimum sentence even though you're not guilty, to avoid the risk of a long sentence.
You clearly don't understand how the justice system works do you. People are INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY, IN A COURT OF LAW, WITH DUE PROCESS, By a JURY OF THEIR PEERS. If so much as ONE of those things is missing then they CANNOT BE GUILTY.
Actually, the Fifth Amendment does apply in civil cases. That is why the DA announced that they would not prosecute Cosby. They wanted to take away his right to invoke the Fifth Amendment in the civil case so that he would make incriminating statements.
@Matthew2222 In theory, but not in practice. Many people I was in charge of in our jail lost their jobs because they could not afford bail and therefore had to sit in jail. Those guys were punished before their verdict came in. Most of them were found not guilty later. So this "innocent until proven guilty" notion is false. The Constitution tries to aim for that ideal, but it is just an ideal. Then there is the media who paints a picture that people believe before someone has a chance to prove themselves. So yes I DO know how the criminal justice system works better than most.

You're correct in that acquitted. And for good reason. And no, the prosecutor's office has been told by the state's Supreme Court that they are not able to try him on anything related again.

Once one understands why he was released it seems appropriate. His release had nothing to do with what he was found guilty of, but because he was promised no prosecution if he told truth which he did. If the legal eagles made such a stupid deal then so be it. It makes Cosby no less guilty for what he did!
@David_Kek No it doesn't! The only reason Cosby was given this deal if he confessed was so the accuser in civil court could (and did) sue him for several million dollars. The belief was that they were not convinced with evidence they had criminality was enough to convict.
That's not true, the falsely accused are given these deals all the time, and stupidly take them out of fear, as the Innocence Project has shown. The American justice system is a joke internationally, being less interested in justice, and more interested in winning, as if justice is even a game to begin with.
I'm outside of info on the cosby thing, but I would like to add in such a thing as "we won't throw you in jail if you confess" will lead to people confessing independent of whether or not they did the crime, with the rationale that it's better than what might happen should they fail to defend themselves.

In the Cosby case I think the government didn't think they could convict him, but if they made the deal at least the women had a chance of getting some revenge in civil court where she was awarded several Million dollars. Sometimes, the law must base decisions on factors extraneous to the case. E. g., a client confesses a murder to his attorney and the attorney, overwhelmed by the knowledge, tells the prosecutor. Finding and punishing the guilty party is the goal of every prosecution but the rules of evidence say that the prosecution is not admissible and cannot be used at trial; if such confessions were admissible, clients would not feel free to openly communicate with their lawyers and that would hinder the person's right to have competent legal representation. That societal concern is given more weight than the prosecution in the individual case and the guilty man may go free.
Such is the case with Dr. Cosby. Those who want to see him punished are trying to spin the facts to make the decision look absurd and to suggest that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is filled with idiot judges who reached the wrong result. And although it was overshadowed, on the same day, Allison Mack from "Smallville," guilty of the human trafficking stuff, got sentenced only to three years. Everyone pointed out how if she was a man, she would've gotten five times that amount and that three years is a slap on the wrist because she is a white attractive young woman.
He's going to die in like another year or two. His legacy will forever be tarnished. His life's work has been undone. Much of his family probably disowned him. All his money is gone. Cosby was promised years ago that if he testified in a civil trial that he would not be criminally liable. During a CIVIL trial (again not criminal) he admitted to drugging women. That testimony was used against him in the criminal trial to secure his conviction. This is a blatant violation of due process. This is why his conviction was overturned.
Yes this should of never happened but again the prosecution can’t violate their own oath and that’s exactly what they did.

My understanding is he was found guilty on the merits of one case that was still within the 12 year window. But there were many more for which he could not be tried. He was recently freed only because of some legal process violation, not because new evidence had come to light to exonerate him. I interpret this as he's morally guilty, he probably did the crime (s), he's got good lawyers, he's legally free. From a purely legal standpoint, yes, they should apologize for not following procedure and messing up the trial. Whether they is to him or their bosses, I'm not sure.
He has been released after the Supreme Court of your country's state Pennsylvania found him innocent, the rule of law was followed, and he is an innocent man. I do believe that he should be compensated for time spent inside prison and reputation and earnings lost. Also I believe he should proceed to file criminal defamation charges against all those who lied under oath against him in court.

I didn't follow all the details of this case, but I'm in the middle. On one hand, why did all these women accusing him of this wait so long and only came forward now, many many years later. On the other, there's so many women accusing him, hard to ignore that (but could some be doing it for publicity and money? Wouldn't surprise me at all).

I don't know either of them personally, but it sure seems Dr. Cosby has grounds for a lawsuit if he wanted to pursue it against the D. A.'s office. The issue is that a lawsuit really could wind up being for hundreds of millions of dollars and when you refer to the D. A.'s office, you're really talking about an office in government that the people support with their tax money. So what it would equate to is the tax players paying this ginormous judgment. Considering the state only has a population of about 13 million, it would actually have an affect on every household. "Should not have been tried" is not the same as "innocent of the charges". A prosecutor promised him that he would not be prosecuted, inducing him to submit to a civil deposition, then he was later prosecuted. He was released because the prosecutor's promise was binding and precluded criminal prosecution on that evidence.
No one owes him an apology for "damaging his reputation", because he isn't innocent and is getting of on a technicality.
He shouldn't have gotten prosecuted because the previous DA agreed not to prosecute him since there wasn't clear forensic evidence. That means due process wasn't followed and prosecutors should not be allowed to play dirty like that.

I think that the prosecutor is felt free to violate Crosby's constitutional rights and as a result of that they wound up having to let him go. Additionally, the original findings against him consisted mainly of women making accusations without any underlying proof whatsoever. I think it's a good thing that they let him go. Maybe this will teach women and people in general that mere accusations do not amount to proof

@MrShaun - Cursing can communicate things that normal language cannot. Like, the severity of a threat. And assuming you mean "degrade" as in "devalue," I don't agree. In this instance, since she's not trying to engage in a debate so cursing wouldn't take anything away. I personally think it actually enhances the degree to which she can express her feelings of disgust towards the accused person's action. Allowing her to convey her emotions more authentically.

I have an idea for why you don't like cursing. For whatever reason and in whatever way, you've observed the social class differences & have made some assumptions. And you link cursing to those that are lower class. For good reason, people lower on the dominance hierarchy don't tend to care what others think about them as much, making them more likely to curse. So, some assumptions are useful. But these things aren't always so clear-cut. Since everyone can curse and for different reasons, your viewpoint becomes a fragile one. It's not open to the many possibilities of reality.
For instance, there are different types of cursing. And people can use curse words in many circumstances & with different intentions. I won't list them all but, some can be used in a more cathartic way, which is scientifically beneficial for the mind as a way of relieving stress/prolonging life. Some can be used as a way to strengthen social bonds, or even like she used in her opinion, it can be a nice tool for highlighting the severity of a danger! There are more ways, but you label all of those very different cursing styles into one category. The "abusive" one. To you, all cursing is abusive cursing. You're looking at it through your own limited view in a very unyielding way. Which many could argue, isn't a very educated thing to do.
Now, we probably agree that cursing can be unnecessary and that arguments are better made without them. And instead, made with language that can accurately articulate the nuances in ways that cursing cannot. So, I don't agree with her calling you a "condescending asshole." Instead, I'd rather someone leave out the "asshole" part and use another word that best fits. Plus, it would come across better and make someone want to alter their views more if phrased in ways that aren't so harsh. But, that obviously isn't her goal. She's a more "tell it like it is kinda person" which can actually be very helpful sometimes. People like her could tell us unfavorable things about ourselves that we didn't even know! People like her are willing to say things that our loved ones likely aren't. But with all criticism, of course, it's best to consider it, then bring it to people that will want to help you grow & become a better person.
Instead of telling people how uneducated they are for cursing, if you really want people to stop cursing, you could approach them in a more rapport-building way. Then express your feelings about them cursing & the reasons why you think they'd be better not doing it. And if they present any strong counterarguments as I have, I think it's best to consider that you might have something to learn from them. You might not entirely agree, but as someone that likes viewing things in a very educated/scientific way, I've observed that it's better to hear people out & find the reasons as to why they could be right, rather than only why they could be wrong.

I believed a guilty man is walking free, but it was a huge victory for our judicial system. The PA AG should be forced to serve Cosby's remaining sentence for such a gross mistake.

@Grubhub cops murder white people all the time and face no consequences, same as black people. Cops rarely face consequences because they exist to protect rich interests. Trump will never face consequences because he is rich, same as every other rich politician.

When black men kill white people I actually don’t defend blacks and call the whites person a bad person. I feel bad and I basically think it’s dividing the country when there’s a hate crime even when it’s black on white. That’s why most black people aren’t racist for that reason

He ADMITTED that he did what he was charged with in the civil case and paid tens of millions of dollars in damages. He incriminated himself because he thought they couldn't prosecute him.

The issue is that a lawsuit really could wind up being for hundreds of millions of dollars and when you refer to the D. A.'s office, you're really talking about an office in government that the people support with their tax money. So what it would equate to is the tax players paying this ginormous judgment. Considering the state only has a population of about 13 million, it would actually have an affect on every household. It does seem like Dr. Cosby is a pretty good stand up type of guy and wouldn't likely want to impose that kind of harm on his fellow citizens.

It would appear that the only thing money did fire him was afford him the attorneys to show he should have never been prosecuted in the first place. Thankfully, he's now been acquired.
