On Saturday night, Florida conservative talk radio show Marc Bernier, an outspoken opponent of masking and vaccines to combat Covid-19, died of Covid-19. Earlier in the day, Caleb Wallace, a prominent opponent of masks as a means to slow the spread of Covid-19, died of Covid-19.

Wallace was 30 years old. Bernier was 65.

The two deaths are simply the latest in a string of incidents in which crusaders against mask-wearing and vaccines have died -- or been hospitalized -- after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

Bernier, in fact, was the third conservative talk radio host who opined against masks and expressed skepticism about the vaccine to die from Covid-19 in recent weeks. Earlier this month Dick Farrel, a Florida-based talk radio host, passed away from the coronavirus. Just last week, Nashville-based host Phil Valentine, 65, died from the virus.

These deaths didn't have to happen. The three Covid-19 vaccines have each proven incredibly effective at lessening -- and almost eliminating -- hospitalizations and deaths of people who get the virus. The vaccines have been readily available for months, with many states and localities offering incentives -- financial and otherwise -- for those willing to get the shots.

@joeldalton In this case, it's evolution in action because vaccine development is a systematic process that does not deviate. Furthermore, a talk show host generally isn't qualified to assess scientific matters. That's why we pay scientists.

Your house is on fire.
You and your family are in the house.
Are you going to debate with the firemen trying to rescue you and put out the fire?
Are you going to say "You know, just wait a minute, I am not sure that firefighting technique isn't going to harm my home. I wanna ask some questions and do some research first..."
Of course not! Because you will die if you fuck around. You listen to the experts who do this for a living and heed their advice and help them do what's necessary to save you, your family, and your home.

Do I feel bad for the antivaxxers who died?
Yes, I feel bad if anyone not evil dies.

They are victims of that "questioning". Their world is on fire with the scourge of COVID-19. Instead of listening to the professionals hired to save them, they questioned... and they died.
Nature has absolutely no mercy and no patience.
You either learn about it and what it is saying and act accordingly or pay the price.

I'm not going to try to make any predictions about numbers. A year ago I almost died from covid. I've had the vaccine and I still refuse to go around other people who don't wear a mask and I wear one myself.

As to the lunatics on here who think their immune systems are ready for covid because they had an infection of it already, they don't know how viral mutations work. A modified RNA vaccine gives a measure of immunity to all the current strains. Having had it once gives immunity to the strain you had, not necessarily all of them.

I'd suggest you avoid trolls next time you ask a Covid related question by removing the anonymous option. People tend to be less vocally stupid when they can be identified.
