Side note: interesting old movie about assassinations being corporatized and deranged killers are “placed” at the scene. Great movie.

I also don't like the C. C. P. and also look into he geopolitical implications of this, but I'm not to sure about that.
For 1thing, any authoritative sources will be in Mandarin and/or Japanese, so the language-barrier will already be an issue when it comes to reliable information. (For example, many English "news"-sources & forums speculated on the weapon being 3d-printed, when Tokyo's earliest state-media N. H. K.'s livestream broadcast showed zoom-ins and mentioned it was a crude, homemade musket-like firearm kept together by black tape.)
Then, ad culture: Sharing a face-saving culture, both the Japanese & Chinese keep a front, and selectively/strategically engage in information-warfare. Beijing won't report what will shame the ruling Party and maybe result in war (so they won't report it, only sources that will benefit from reporting C. C. P.-bashing… and even if it be true, believers can be easily branded "conspiracy-theorists"), while Tokyo's report will keep utmost respect in their reporting of their late, longest office-holding then-Prime Minister (so further information on the organization the assassin suspected ex-P.M. Abe to be a member of, whether his alleged membership is true or not, and whether any of the funds the assassin's mother donated to the point of nearly bankrupting her family actually reached Abe or not, is not mentioned).
In a sense, it seems odd that Tokyo's security was that lax, when Japanese are famous for their generally-higher levels of conscientiousness, attention to detail, and perfectionism, even to O. C. D.-levels. But then again, I can imagine not reacting the same way, given Japan's general peacefulness & that the weapon looked (to me, if I ignore the context) like a prop for an impromptu skit, a cosplay of sorts (for Codename: Kids Next Door… but in 2022, so long after the last episode‽), or a hardware craft-project of sorts.
Man, it was a mess.
Not sure to be honest he was a beloved figure both in Japan and loved internationally. The fire arm was completely home manufactured. It’s not hard to build an explosive for checkout weapon.
now just being I don’t trust China I wouldn’t put it past China to have a foreign right wing official assassinated.

Apparently he acted alone, and supposedly because of non-political reasons... but who knows for sure. I'm sure eventually more will come out. I wouldn't be surprised if China and/or North Korea were responsible.
Damn. We may have a job for him here to we can start drilling for oil again.
He is probably dead by now. The rest does not matter.
