What's YOUR definition of high maintenance? (guys)

I think of the gals who wear a lot of makeup, a lot of perfume, and always have to have the best clothing. They're obsessed with how they look and wouldn't be caught dead (much less alive) doing anything that might break a nail. They travel in packs of like-minded women to reinforce their notions of acceptance and popularity, while being fawned over by men whose greatest achievement was setting their High School's bench press record. They value appearance over substance, which is reflected in their surplus hairspray and lacking intellect.

I suppose it could also refer to the clingy-type you mentioned, the one that always needs attention. They're usually one and the same, as both require the approval of others to verify their bloated feelings of self-worth.

Some guys like the high-maintenance girls. They know that if they continue to shower them in gifts and petty compliments, they'll never leave for another man. That is, unless they spot someone with a more influential social circle - or a more robust paycheck. Others, like myself, prefer someone who can hold their own in a conversation. I want someone who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. Someone whose goals in life don't revolve around how much money they make, or how great their retirement plan is. Bonus points if they CAN'T name more than 2 brands of expensive shoes.

high maintenance means that she constantly demands sacrifices of her man. usually financial but can be in other ways as well. examples:

if a guy has to constantly buy her expensive things he can't really afford, she's high maintenance

if she's constantly demanding that he alienate his friends to be with her, she's high maintenance

why she does it, we don't know. but what we do know is that she gets a personal good feeling out of seeing her man make sacrifices for her in his personal life, which in a way can be considered a form of sadism.
